Sundays in this house are either spent having a relaxing day chilling or the complete opposite where we are keeping ourselves busy. I hate feeling like I have wasted and I much prefer the feeling of achievement from a productive Sunday at home.
Personally, I get bored easily and feel the need to keep myself active and productive for the majority of the week and weekend. This got me thinking, what to do on a Sunday to stay productive.
Sunday is commonly known as a day of rest. But if you are like me having a Sunday at home still needs a few productive activities so you don’t feel like you’ve wasted a day.
So let’s talk what to do with a productive Sunday at home?
1. Having a tidy up around the house.
When you have a busy week ahead, and only the weekend to sort out your house, this may seem like an obvious one to you. However, Tidying up is really simple way to spend a productive Sunday at home! Even if you Don’t need to clean the entire house.
2. Update your planner. 📔
I know it’s the weekend and you may not be ready to face the upcoming Monday yet but one thing you could do right now is stay organised and prepared by updating your planner. Familiarise yourself with what to expect from the next week.
3. Spend some time on your self-care. 🛁
Self-care is so important, we should always make time for self-care. I wrote a post about why it is so important, here.
Making sure that you are allowing time to spend on you is something that seems hard when you are having a busy day! So Self-Care Sunday is perfect for you! Looking after yourself is the most productive thing you could do.
4. Take some time to charge your batteries. 🔋
Similar to ensure that your looking after yourself with self-care, nothing beats a day of relaxation. This is a reminder to you that taking a day off and giving yourself a break is one of the most productive things that you can do for yourself. Recharging isn’t just about napping or sleeping. It’s taking time to ensure your OK.
Recharging your energy to be able to focus and prevent you from burning out.
5. Plan your meals for the upcoming week. 🍝
I have a love-hate relationship with meal planning. We tend to plan the meals for the week for something to change or happen. So we no longer say what day we’re going to eat what.
however, we now ensure we plan at least 6 meal ideas for the week and write a shopping list of what we need so that we can buy this in the weekly shop.
6. Set some new goals.
I say this a lot, but I do really mean it. Goal setting is the most productive and simplest way to work towards your dreams.
breaking your dreams into workable stepping stones.
by writing your goals for the week on a regular day such as Sunday will help you monitor your progress and will keep you from feeling disheartened if a goal is taking a while to achieve.
7. Make your bedding. 🛏
Washing and freshen up your bedding on a Sunday night ready for a cosy sleep. Your be completely well-rested for any Monday madness. Plus it will keep you on top of changing and making your bed regularly.
8. Read a book. 📖
I hear you saying it. “How on earth is this productive Alexa”. To be productive means you do a lot — you create or produce large amounts of something. Right?
The feeling of being productive is the ability to achieve a positive amount of work or activities that make you feel accomplished. So by either reading, a chapter on a kindle or paperback is a step closer to your goal of finishing a book! Do it.
9. Check your to-do lists.
When it comes to what to do on a Sunday, being able to complete a todo list is a pretty good one to achieve.
Is there anything you can accomplish on your to-do list that you can do? Get it done.
I continuously have a rather long to-do list to complete. Using a notebook filled with a continuous list of everything I need to do. I literally list everything so I don’t ever forget to do something like one of my main ways to stay organised. By completing items off my todo list it leaves me feeling accomplished and that I have been productive.
10. Phone your loved ones.
For a perfect productive Sunday at home do something that is going to improve your happiness and Keep in contact with loved ones and phone someone that you have spoken to in a while. Stopping you from losing touch all together.
Life gets so busy sometimes. It is so easy to let time pass and not speak to our loved ones as much as we should! Sometimes we can feel achieved and reconnected with a simple phone call.
11. Do some exercise / Go for a walk. 🚶🏼♀️
Get outside into the fresh air. Treating your body to some healthy exercise is a fun and refreshing thing to do. Keeping you fit and your adrenaline gets pumping. Leading to you feeling more motivated.
12. Declutter an area that you have been avoiding.
It’s time to declutter a room or area that’s starting to look a bit packed. We all have areas in the house that become a dumping ground for things that shouldn’t be there. Having a re-organise and declutter an area that has become hectic is a productive thing to do regularly and keeps it from becoming a massive job.
13. Reorganise and freshen up your workplace.
If you are like me and working from home, your work area should be your place of serenity. Even if you don’t work 24/7 from home, have a clear tidy area, somewhere that you aren’t going to avoid will help keep your work to a good standard, as well as the achieving feeling of content with your area.
14. Set yourself some goals for the week.
Setting your goals is one of the best ways to stay productive and organised. By setting weekly goals, you are focusing on smaller milestones working towards an overall big goal. Which is how people achieve their dreams, by working there way there where they can.
Using your Sunday to write out what it is you want to be able to achieve for the upcoming week keeps you on track and motivated.
15. Rearrange the furniture. 🛋
Spend some time focusing on your mental wellbeing. Keep your home fresh and have a change around everyone and then. It’s a fabulous way of keeping your house the way you want it. Your feel like you have achieved climbing a mountain once you have moved some furniture around. Trust me there. (lifting a sofa is not easy).
16. Reorder and cull your cupboards of any out of date stuff.
How often do you buy something in the shopping with the full intentions of it being used that week? Then 6 months down the line it is still in the cupboard untouched? The chances are you have more than one item in your cupboards that have gone past there best dates and there waiting to be chucked.
going through the cupboard to cull the expired and familiarise yourself with its contents is a really productive thing to spend an hour doing when you get a chance. No one likes unnecessary amounts of clutter in their lives.
17. Get your laundry done. 🧺
when it comes to laundry, I swear we have a love hate relationship with the washing basket. I love the feeling of completion when all of the washing is done and put away. But hate actually having to do it. We seem to go through so much washing on a weekly basis! So if you have nothing else to do on your Sunday. Get caught up so you don’t have to worry about it again, well for a little while anyway.
18. Make sure you are prepared for your Monday morning.
Monday morning madness. Everything is hectic, and organisation can fly out of the window when you need it to the least.
keeping yourself organised by preparing everything that you need to make your Monday run smoothly. It does not matter what it is you do to prepare, whether it’s making lunch for the day, organising your bag or work, it will keep you ahead of the game.
19. Spend some time catching up on your hobbies and interests. 🎨
Life gets hectic. There is no denying that. One of the best productive things that you can do for you is to spend some quality time on your hobbies. Is there anything that you have started and now got round to finishing yet? Or maybe you haven’t enjoyed your hobby in so long you’ve pretty much forgotten that it exists. Taking time to catch up, lifts your mood and your Sunday.
20. Create/update your vision board.
I love vision boards. Honestly. I am always mentioning them when it comes to setting goals and wanting to achieve things. If you haven’t created one for you now spend some time to create one. The vision board will act as a continuous reminder to what you are working towards and what your dreams are. What could be more productive?
since our dreams and goals change from time to time, make sure if you use a vision board that you take the time to update it and admire it.
21. Write down some positive affirmations
remember I spoke earlier about productivity being a feeling as well as an achievement of quantity. Positive affirmations are amazing at keeping your spirits up and reminding you why you should love yourself and how.
writing down new affirmations on a regular basis keeps your spirits up and prepares you for when you need reminders.
22. Check in with your finances
I would definitely call this productive. Not the most enjoyable or fun, but definitely productive and responsible.
especially if you are running a business and keeping track of your financial statements for taxes. Spending free time on this regularly will save you having to do this all at once in the future.
23. Sort through old photos. 📸
get your photos organised. Take the time to go through them and reminisce about the holidays you have taken and dream about yourself jumping on a plane to the next holiday!
Find a way of storing your photos that works for you and organise them for ease.
24. Enjoy a family roast dinner.
Sunday! Roast dinner day! Enjoy your dinner with your family or friends and not only are you filling yourself with vegetables which is good for you, your taking time with your loved ones. Time is precious and should never be taken for granted.
25. Get an early night!
the most productive thing you can do on a Sunday out of all of these activities. Getting an early night ensuring your fully rested and recharged ready for Monday madness.
I’d love to hear what you get up to on a Sunday.
