August 2020 – Wrapping up the month. A crazy month.

August 2020

August 2020 has been a crazy month! I really mean that. It has been Hectic in our house lately. We have had an emotional month with varies things going on. and of course, yesterday felt like a sad day for us as we should have been saying ‘I do’.

It is sad that we had to postpone our wedding, thanks to the bloody coronavirus. However we still have 11 beautiful months to look forward to our big day. So instead of being negative I am looking forward to our future as always.

So what has been happening this August 2020?

We had so much fun at the sunflower fields!

At the beginning of this month, my beautiful Emma surprised me by taking me to the sunflower fields in Titchfield. We had such a fabulous time. It had honestly been on my bucket list to go to one of these, so to have finally done it has made me feel proper happy! I definitely am lucky to have such a thoughtful fiance.

Bella did her very first collaboration.

Bella did her first-ever collaboration with Fab Furry Baby and modelled this beautiful dress on my Instagram this month! Owning Bella has such a positive effect on our mental health. It was quite fun seeing her strut her stuff in such a cute item of pet clothing!

We played with our hair, a lot.

This was such an out of the blue thing! Emma and I both decided that we should bleach our hair. Why I am not sure. Do I regret it? No, actually I’m loving having lighter hair again! Although of course, the bleach has damaged the condition a fair bit, I am using a lot of hair masks and treatment to recover the state of our hair. As you can imagine going from dark to blonde has given us multiple shades of yellow! however we are getting there, and hopefully, I’ll be the actual colour I want to be soon. I’ll do a proper post with pictures in the future!

We’ve had some pretty awesome house guests.

Supporting our lovely neighbours who are going through some difficult times, we have offered them our house until they can get back on their feet. The amazing ‘Crazy M‘ is currently staying with us. I wanted to give them a mention as this month she has been entered into the Be Awards nationals. If you have two minutes, please visit this link and vote for her to win!

Another thing I wanted to mention is Demi has started blogging since she has been staying here, take a second to check out her blog as she is such an inspiring person!

I reached 10 years on WordPress.

Seriously, 10 years? How did that happen? It’s hard to believe that I have been blogging on and off since then. The past 3 years my blogging has grown much more, but I definitely feel like I have learnt a lot in the past few years.

Finally played with the resin liquid I brought ages ago!

A few months ago I finally got my hands on some resin liquid! I hadn’t had a chance to get to grips with actually doing it!, So we grabbed some little decorations (basically whatever I could find in the craft room. The trinket trays we made are absolutely adorable, and I now can’t wait to purchase more resin liquid to be able to make more!

Unfortunately, I have learned the hard way not to drop the resin crafts! As one of them smashed on the floor. 😤.

Why we are postponing our wedding due to COVID-19.

I am not going to lie. This post is one that I think I have been avoiding. I almost didn’t really want to admit that this was happening. Who knew that 2020 was gonna be the year to change so many lives? and the concept of postponing our wedding was not something I could have ever imagined for this year.

Coronavirus has affected us all with the new rules of lockdown and social distancing. Businesses have been taking a hard hit. Families have been left feeling torn away from loved ones. Saddened that they can’t hug each other.

Although things are slightly looking up 4 months after the initial lockdown was put into place by the government we really are far from leading our normal day to day lives right now. Almost all of us are at the point where we really don’t have any concept of time or the day of the week.

Both I and Emma started this year full of excitement about the things that were coming our way. In March we moved into our beautiful new house. However, this was then followed 3 days later by the start of the UK lockdown.

We’ve been keeping our self busy making our house a home, check out my first home together post, here.

This year was also the year we were due to get married. Although now as you can tell, this won’t be happening. We were originally due to get married on the 4th of September this year. Although you might be sat there thinking. postponing our wedding is a little hasty, and well you could still get married and have 30 people there, and no reception. I don’t even feel the need to argue this. It is not what we want.

We had held out hope and kept delaying the decision about the wedding for a little while (my choice). However, there is only so much time you can waste before realising you are running out of time.

The truth is we didn’t want to hold onto maybe it would be ok. At present we are nowhere near ready for our wedding day as we still have so much to do. And frankly, we didn’t have time for lockdown, but it is what it is.

Getting engaged was the most amazing surprise, when we went to Disney Land Paris, Read more, here.

I think it’s quite fair that we both would like to enjoy the preparation time up to the wedding and not have to rush everything that we would have had 6 months to do in 2 months. Even our hen do’s have now passed us by. So next year we hope that we get to do this all. Properly, and get to enjoy it.

postponing our wedding
Next year will be a better year.

It’s a hard decision to make putting your dream wedding on hold. At the end of the day, the idea of not being allowed all of our friends and family around us sucked. As well as the reception we were looking forward to is only the tip of the iceberg of why we have had to make this decision.

At the beginning of this year, we were already faced with bad news about our wedding. We had to change our wedding venue due to the closure of Botleigh Grange Hotel. So we already lost £1000 due to the deposit we placed there. So from this to postponing our wedding due to COVID-19 seems like a kick. However, we are staying positive and optimistic for next years new plans!

In the past few months, I have watched the reminders come up on my phone of things we should have been doing towards our wedding. Including wedding dress shopping, bridesmaids dresses, Emma’s outfit, making invitations with my mum, hen nights and so much more.

If it was not for coronavirus we would not be postponing our wedding.

The fact is all of the stuff we should have already done. We didn’t get the opportunity to do any of this due to the coronavirus outbreak. We agreed that what is an extra year to wait, to be able to have our dream day and all.

It has taken me a while to adjust and get my head around things. But I am really starting to look at the bright side now.

We don’t have an exact date yet but we are hoping to hold our wedding a year from the original date. We are taking this as a fresh start with a whole 12 extra months to make our wedding day exactly what we want.

Things probably will not be how they were originally planned, but that’s ok. I have a million new ideas on how it’s going to be bigger and better. My crafty hands are getting put to work straight away as I start to focus on the wedding prep again. (Obviously, I tried to give myself some time to breathe once we originally made the decision that we were going to postpone).

I am going to end this post with a positive, on how happy we are as a couple and one extra year is nothing to wait as I look forward to spending the rest of my life as a Taplin, with my beautiful wife to be. Bring on 2021!

March 2020 | Wrapping up the month.

Hey guys! and again Happy April!.. not that these last few weeks have been happy for many of us. It feels pretty strange to be doing a round-up this month because it is just such a strange time right now, especially as I have been sharing so much with everyone about the move and coronavirus already. But I am wanting to stick to a routine as much as possible this year! especially when it comes to my blog. So what has been happening in March 2020?

What has been happening in March 2020?

Coronavirus & Lockdown.

Obviously The coronavirus, AKA Covid-19 has been affecting the world in such a dark way this month. A worldwide Pandemic, leaving many countries including the UK in a state of lockdown. So we are all now confined to our homes and should be avoiding all social situations, only leaving the house for essentials. The world is a scary place to be in right now. As our key workers battle to keep us safe and alive.

We are really grateful in this house for our electronic devices where we can video call and virtually see our families and friends. I’ve been calling all my family every day and keeping in touch with them via video call.

If you are feeling bored or lonely and you need support, you can always reach out to me on one of my socials or send me an email!

We moved into our first home!

The biggest thing to happen to us in our relationship yet. We knew the move was coming as the farm we were living on was sadly being sold. I absolutely love our new house! we got the keys to our house on the 20th March 2020. Which will always remain a special date now. Of course, I miss the farm as well. As we have been in lockdown since moving into the house, we have had plenty of time to make it from a house to home.

Unpacking and putting things away didn’t take us too long, we spent long days in the first week searching for all our belongings and giving them homes. We had to be fair had are stuff packed up for so long that we were pretty excited to get our belongings back out of storage.

Bella is settling in really well with the house move as well. She loves lying in the sun in her new garden. She loves it, but definitely missing her grandad and Millie dog. We can tell.

The Craft room.

So Im pretty much guessing that this room is gonna be where I spend a lot of my time! Crafting and using it as an office.

Today I actually spent most of the day painting the frames of our notice boards pink so that they look pretty in the room. The craft room is full of colour, unlike the rest of the house. I can’t wait to show everyone the room when it is complete.

Blog things

With the coronavirus making it impossible for me to work on my business plans and development right now, I am planning to be spending a lot more time on my blog and its contents in the next few weeks. Including a bit of a blog makeover. As well as beginning to release a completely new project. So watch this space for that one! ♡

Our wedding plans

So obviously with everything that is going on in the world right now, and with no clear idea on how long we will be in lockdown, and social events are cancelled until further notice. We do still have small hope that this will have calmed down by our wedding. We are unable to make a decision on what to do about our date at the moment. We are already missing out on special events that have already been cancelled. such as hen doos. So I am trying to remain positive, and plan ahead with a plan B. If that makes sense. Hopefully we will know more soon.
