Happy Monday guys. I can not believe that it was 3 years ago that I started my blogging journey with AlexaJade.co.uk. They do say time flies when you are having fun. Well for me blogging and life have been a rollercoaster of emotions not just ‘fun’. I have not written a birthday post for my blog before but I was so shocked to realise last month that this year was 3 years of AlexaJade blogging. So this post is just a short message appreciating my blog as well as expressing happy birthday to AlexaJade.
Happy Birthday, AlexaJade.co.uk.
In the past 3 years, I have had so many ups and downs in my life. As I was reminded that my blog birthday was coming up I took some time to look back over my posts.
If you are one of my regular readers you will know how that the last year and a half I have struggled with my health. Meaning I had to leave my job. I thought I was gonna be depressed and have to start a job I didn’t like. However, as I reflect on my health the things that have been going on have encouraged me to really focus on what I want out of life. The actual want to be my own boss is slowly becoming a dream come true.
It is so funny how much life changes and how you grow with your hobbies and passions. Some would say it is impossible! However, the more you work on your passions the further you will get in life! Stop fighting for what you don’t need in life and fight for what you want in life. Oh, and you are never too old to start something new! I hate to hear people using their age as a reason not to step outside of their comfort zone!
Blogging has given me Fabulous new opportunities and a way of thinking as I definitely feel that since I have been blogging my blog has had a positive effect on my mental health!
So hopefully in a few years time I will have celebrated tons of blog birthday’s and plenty of milestones! I hope you guys are working just as hard on your dreams! don’t let anything stop you! you are amazing.

Good morning everyone, Happy April! And positive thoughts to everyone who feels that they have been in isolation forever. We have certainly been feeling the effects that the Lockdown has on us. So I am feeling quite grateful this week as I am talking about something completely not Coronavirus related. Today I am taking CBD oil from Bristol CBD.
I had been really excited when Bristol CBD offered me the opportunity to test their CBD oil product. I have already been taking CBD for a while now and already know of the benefits. So to try a new brand new product is always exciting.
What is CBD oil?
For those of you that do not know what CBD is, it is a Cannabidiol. A food supplement that has been being used across the world to help aid health conditions.
The usage of CBD has been highly discussed and debated by many health officials as the most controversial supplement available. Mainly due to the source, being the Marijuana plant.
Cannabidiol may be sourced and extracted from the Marijuana plant paste, that lives within the flowers of the same plant as ‘weed’ however dose not contain the THC chemical which is often used by smoking. (So basically no you can’t get high off this). The WHO (World Health Organisation) stipulates that CBD oil is non-toxic, non-addictive and non-psychoactive product.
Why I have been taking CBD.
I started to take CBD a few months ago when it was recommended to me by a friend who had been suffering from cramps and anxiety. So for me, it sounded like something worth trying, as I am always open to trying new natural methods of improving my pain symptoms and anxiety.
At first, I found the taste of CBD oil really hard to swallow. However, I have found that not giving up and persisting I got used to the taste pretty quickly.
The longer I have taken CBD oil the more I notice the benefits of the supplement, I feel more relaxed and this has been improving the continuous pain I’ve been having in my stomach.
I previously wrote a post explaining how being ill has affected my mental health, here. Some of these issues have improved since I started taking CBD oil in November, (After having written this post).
How do you actually use CBD oil?
To take CBD oil in liquid form, you need to take a few droplets under your tongue, 2 – 3 times a day. There are a variety of different percentages of CBD you can take. I have been taking 5% happily, which is also what Bristol CBD sent me.
What are the benefits of CBD oil?
The benefits of CBD oil are wide and varied and it is sold legally in the UK as a food supplement. CBD has been known to help with the symptoms of Anxiety Depression, Muscle Pain, Sickness and nausea from treatments such as chemotherapy, Acne and some other skin problems. The supplement has also been linked to having improvements for blood pressure and benefitting a persons heart and circulatory system.
What do I like about Bristol CBD?
Bristol CBD is such a caring and helpful shop. On their website, they say “We want everyone to be able to afford premium quality CBD oil” and honestly I have to agree. As I compare this to the high street and some other brands I have brought in the past. The CBD they supply is really good quality for the money it costs to buy. They also offer free delivery! which is an epic bonus!
The Bristol CBD team are really supportive, and informative about their product. I would highly recommend their CBD to any of my friends.
Don’t forget – If you decide to try CBD oil, Bristol CBD are offering a fabulous 15% off with code “ALEXA15” on their website here.
Self-care is something that I try to think about and achieve as much as I humanly can. I am often seeing so many people talking about the importance of self-care that it truly shocks me that some people still do not know what it is or why it is so beneficial to them.
What is self-care?
self-care are the actions we do that our for ourselves. When we maintain a good self-care routine, we are achieving it for ourselves. Improving our health, development and well being.
Is there anything that you do that makes you feel good today? Actually forget good. That is such a boring word. If you can sit there and say today my day was, what imaginative word would you use? Mine, my day was unique. My day was unique because only I had this day today for everyone else it was different.
I know how easy it is to become blind to the positives in life, especially when it comes to our mental health. Even when their good things staring at us right in the face, sometimes, for no reason at all. For no fault of our own, we let our anxiety or depression win. In my previous post, I explained that its ok to be in a down spell which covered a lot more of this, here.
I have recently become addicted to those books, that I suppose fall into the Self-help category at Waterstones! (Not that I actually go to the actual book shop, it is definitely about Amazon Prime buying!) I love the quotes and inspiration that you can adopt from these books, sometimes I could be reading a few paragraphs of something, and think crap! this is me! Anxiety overtaking comes naturally to me. It is not just about the words, it will be ok, is not always good enough, and our actions influence everything, especially how we feel.
Looking after your own mental health isn’t just about how you feel on what day, and it is definitely not about just talking it through, our actions and mindset put together to have a massive impact on our lives on a day to day basis. These things I class as self-care for me, everyone is different, so although they may not work for you, I hope some of my ideas help someone!
Types of self-care
There 8 self-care types and many different things you can do for each particular type.
Your physical self-care includes your sleeping, your physical health, what your eating and drinking, ways to rest and relax.
your emotional self-care covers your stresses, your emotional attachments, compassion, kindness etc.
Your social self-care is your communication skills, your connections with overs, positive social media reflection, and your boundaries.
Your spiritual self-care includes the time that you spend alone, meditation & yoga, connections with nature, journaling and sacred spaces.
Personal self-care is your hobbies, getting to know yourself, your personal identities, and the ability to empower yourself to be yourself.
Spacial self-care is the care you take into looking after your own space. The space you live in. The earth itself, by being sustainable and keeping your personal spaces organise.
Financial self-care is being able to manage your money correctly so that you’re not getting yourself into financial worries, such as splurging money too much you are surrounded by debt. As well as being able to commit to responsibilities of paying their own bills etc.
Finally, your work self-care is the things that you need in your workplace, the things that help and improve your time management, workspace, learning and to take suitable breaks.
What can I do to achieve it?
There are a variety of different activities you can do to reach your own personal self-care goals. Here are some general ideas…
BUBBLE BATH, BATH BOMBS, CANDLES AND MAYBE A LITTLE WINE!
When it has been a long day, or when your feeling a bit down, or just for no reason at all. It’s more about the giving yourself time to relax, chill, and let any stress, threats or anxiety fade.
It doesn’t matter what your creativity is, always take the time to actually do it! It could be spending hours with your drawing books, or colouring pad, or something a bit more technical. I literally surround my self by different hobbies and crafty things, I love the feeling of accomplishment for whatever you’ve achieved, is enough. Plus somethings are a great distraction, like colouring!
How about checking out how to make 3D paper flowers, here.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH COLOUR, BEAUTY, AND YOUR FAVOURITE THINGS
I always say that my favourite colour is glitter, Its shiny and so pretty. It makes me feel content! If it is not glitter, it’s pink, it’s colourful. When you surround yourself with the things you love, you will always find something that will be able to make you happy.
MAKE YOUR FAVOURITE HOT DRINK, IN YOUR FAVOURITE MUG
I have an obsession with mugs (and believe me this is no exaggeration) but I definitely have my fav, I love using.
SPEND MORE TIME ON YOURSELF
Spending time on you could be absolutely anything, It could be spending an evening pampering yourself, with Hair treatments and painting your nails, to spending a few hours with your favourite book Giving yourself ‘me time’ is such a vital thing that makes us all feel good. As long as your going something that is making you feel happy, then whatever it is it’s a good thing!
VISIT YOUR FAVOURITE PLACES
We like to have the Marwell Zoo pass, it is given us the excuse to get out and more active. Plus the excuse to take weekends away to visit other zoo locations included in the price. If it is not a zoo were visiting, its Bournemouth beach. We’ve created so many amazing memories on days just out and relaxing. Make a list of your favourite places and make sure you take every possible opportunity to go!
GET YOURSELF ORGANISED
My anxiety always seems to go out of control when I don’t feel organised enough, whether it is arranging something or just something general. Making lists, adjust your routine, using reminders, sticky notes, and updating my calendar always seems to make me feel better. I would always make this a suggestion when things seem to be manic.
What activities do you do for your general self-care? I would love to hear new suggestions.
As we are now over a week into January I thought this would be the perfect time to talk about what I plan to change this 2020. This year I am not setting any new year resolutions, just life changes that I want to keep too. We all set New Year’s resolutions but after a while, we seem to forget about them and no longer stick to them. This is why I do not want to call the resolutions this year. This year is all about life goals!
Last year my health caused my daily routines to make a major hit. In honesty, I completely lost all concept of what a routine even is or should be. One of my main goals right now especially is to get myself in a routine again. The past few days I have been setting my alarm for 9:30 every morning, which is a start since most days I had not been getting up till the afternoon. Currently, my iPad and iPhone are acting more of a PA then anything else, as I am finally setting constant reminders, events, shared notes with Emma etc. Apparently this method seems to be working most for me, as I have started planning my day hour by hour.
At the beginning of this month, I posted about bringing confidence into 2020. Which as I said there I plan to step out of my comfort this year and become more confident we’re possible. For me, I know that this is not going to be easy! But I am determined to try.
Becoming self-employed is a big deal for me this year. I am finally starting to push myself in many ways to get organised, focused and motivated. 2019 left me with way too many months that I didn’t feel motivated at all, I am promising myself that this is not going to be the case this year.
Getting married. 04.09.2020.
Well, this is less of a goal and more of something that is definitely happening this year. With less than 9 months to go till September now and still so much to do. Our wedding is a massive focus of the year! I am so excited. This year I get to become Mrs Taplin to my beautiful fiancé Emma. One of our many exciting adventures this year.
Having said about the wedding, this now fits in pretty well. This year I’m taking a particular interest in my health and lifestyle. Having had a bad year health-wise last year, I am hoping that by the wedding I can get myself into better shape then I am now. There are wedding photos to think about of course!
This is a given for us this year as well. This year, probably in the next 6 months I and Emma will be moving into our own place. That’s right, 2020 is a new house and a marriage! how scary is this right? And so bloody exciting. We started this week, house searching. Already we are overwhelmed with the number of viewings and searching we have planned this week. I am excited and nervous about the challenges me and Emma will face by living on our own! You will probably see me blogging about this a lot this year. I warn you now :).
Will 2020 be the year for using my camera more.
Now, this is really an ironic ambition for me this year. Honestly, I am a photo obsessed personality. I constantly have my phone out taking photos. Over the past few years though it’s constantly photos on my phone. Not my actual camera, which I spent so much money on. It really annoys me that I’ve become so lazy when it comes to my DSLR, especially when it’s one of my prize possessions. So I am planning to get it out of its bag every chance I can.
Last but not least. Happiness.
I know that right now I am so lucky! I have an amazingly supportive partner, a wonderful family, a lovely place to live, amazing friends and so many wonderful things that are happening this year. 2020 is going to be a busy and amazing year for both of us. Unfortunately, I sometimes allow my depression and anxiety to affect me way too much. So this year I want to try and improve by leaving myself happy messages and notes to find. Reminders. Things like that. It is so easy for any of us, no matter what our situation, to forget how lucky we really are.
So this is my list of what I want to change (and what will be changing) in 2020. What is it that you would like for your year? I hope you all reach your goals.
As we move closer towards the end of 2019, Christmas is looming just around the corner and as the season is upon us it’s time to stop avoiding it! It is time to sit back and enjoy the festive feelings that this time of year brings. At this point, we should be enjoying the season and not worrying about it.
So now that we know it is time to get into the festive spirit however how does one actually do this? For me, I absolutely love this time of year and I am completely determined to not let the lack of funds get in the way! So I thought I would share with you 24 activity ideas to bring on the festive spirit.
Get planning …
Christmas is the pretty much the busiest time of the year. So first things first, sit down with a notepad and your diary. write lists, plans and get everything down so you can get through it all. I always say planning and prepping makes everything run smoothly, that and I love to be super organised, no winging it is going on in this house! that’s for sure!
Christmas Movie Night.
One of my favourite Christmas activities has to be an evening in bed. Or cosy up on the sofa with a bottle of wine, or even a hot festive chocolate, popcorn and the Christmas movies at our fingertips.
Since Christmas has its very own dedicated channel as well full of Christmas movies 24/7. There will always be something festive to watch.
We started our Christmas crafts really early this year since we are planning to gift everyone homemade crafts, as a lack, we have a massive lack of funds available and so far it’s been working out, with only a few lefts to do. Leaving more time to craft some Christmas goodies for the day.
Handmade cards and gifts are so special and it’s amazing to receive something that has so much effort into. So get your crafty fingers ready and make your own presents, cards and decorations.
Spend an evening looking at Christmas lights.
Whether it’s a walk around your block or a trip around in the car, it’s lovely to use the opportunity to get out and see the effort that some people go to at Christmas, with their houses all dressed up. Twinkle lights, inflatable Christmas characters and even singing houses!
Enjoy a mulled wine & cheese night.
It is fair to say that most people love a cheese night. So grab a bottle of mulled wine (or if your feeling particularly creative cook some up yourself) and shove some cheese on a board, invite your besties around, and enjoy a festive evening of chat, Christmas foods and wine. Perfect, right?
I know that mulled wine isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so bring out the gin or even Prosecco.
Get baking and decorating, and make a Gingerbread House.
Is it really Christmas without gingerbread? The smell of mixed spices and cinnamon, the most festive aroma whilst it is being baked.
Decorating a gingerbread house and making gingerbread is so much fun and of course yummy.
You can read my favourite gingerbread recipe here.
For me, Christmas markets are a love-hate relationship. A festive opportunity to get some shopping and admire beautiful things on the stalls, definitely something to consider heading out too. My town of Southampton has a German Christmas market every year. It is definitely the atmosphere that the Christmas market creates that brings festive feelings.
The only reason I say I have a love-hate relationship towards a Christmas market is that they always seem to be slap bang in the middle of town. Bringing in even more customers to the shops making a Christmas shopping trip hectic and a little stressful.
Get the Christmas wardrobe going.
Festive, silly ugly, cute, different. Call them what you may but Christmas clothes like the old Christmas jumpers! who doesn’t own a selection of these to wear. Not just jumpers either. Leggings, dresses, tops and jewellery! Get it all out. It’s an opportunity to wear whatever you like. Even if you fancy looking silly dressed up as one of Santa clauses elves. No one’s gonna think twice! Perfect!
Putting up the Christmas decorations
I’m not gonna lie this year we have been slacks when it comes to some Christmas involved things. Normally As soon as we reach the 1st of December I am asking to put the tree up and the Christmas decorations out. we’ve finally got this done today. Spending ages to untangle the fairy lights, swearing at trying to get the branches to sit right, and trying to retread the strings that have broken off the. It takes hours, and sometimes we wonder why we bother since it’s all for one day. But really, by having the decorations up twinkling away just has a pure automatic Christmas vibe. My favourite Christmas activity of them all.
Turn up the Christmas Music and wrap presents and cards.
Ok. Christmas present wrapping, it’s more of a chore right? You’ve gone out shopping spent loads of money and you are really pleased with everything you have brought your loved ones, but now you have to spend hours getting them all ready for the big day. I am a lover of giving at Christmas but the wrapping, not so much the wrapping of everything. So, making a fun evening of it with the Christmas songs blaring. Or a film, whatever you choose can make the whole mountain of presents into a festive pleasant evening getting you right in the mood for Christmas.
Get the board games out of the cupboard.
Christmas time is all about family time in this house. So what could be any better than turning the TV off and getting the family interacting and chatting with some fun competitive things between one another? One year for Christmas a lovely gift from my uncle was a guess the Disney tune where you need to blow the tune in to a harmonica. The memories made on that Christmas Day of my Nan trying to buzz out a tune will live with me forever. It was truly hilarious. I would definitely suggest a few games over Christmas whilst your family have been drinking. Honestly trust me on this one.
Light some festive candles.
Christmas definitely has a smell to it, right? I can’t be the only one to think so!
So by lighting some festive scents, be it candles or wax melts. Getting the house smelling lovely and Christmasy definitely helps the festive vibes. One of my favourite Christmas scents is Yankee candle snowflake! But you don’t need to spend lots of money on expensive candles, head to the pound shop! Or even home bargains, at this time of year they have plenty of winter scents in stock!
visit your local garden centres.
I’m not the biggest fan of garden centres at any other time of the year, but as soon as we hit the Christmas month I can not wait to get to a few to see their Christmas displays. The garden centres seem to make such a massive effort when it’s Christmas, with beautiful Christmas walks, Reindeers to go and see, and decorations galore. I love seeing the shops all dressed up and totally Christmas galore.
Most garden centres will have things for you to go see, I honestly suggest this as a perfect activity for an age! Some you may need to pay a small donation for especially if your planning to take a trip to see Santa, but they’re normally so worth the money, we haven’t been let down yet.
At the beginning of this month, we took an amazing trip to Keydell Nurseries in Hampshire, you can read about this experience here.
Get some late night shopping in.
As it gets closer to the big day the stores give us more and more chance to spend our money! The best time is late night shopping hours, as the stores aren’t as busy as usual working hours. Plus it’s a perfect opportunity to go for a drink with friends and shop your heart out.
Elf on the shelf
Elf on the shelf is just the best, isn’t it? The past few years the elf on the shelf has become more and more popular in the UK. With Facebook being filled with peoples pictures of what their naughty elf has been up too.
I really wouldn’t say that elf is just for kids, although it is massively fun for them, adults love elf too, and if I’m honest, the elf’s who belong to adults seem to be even more naughty. Funny that right?
Even if you don’t have children to set up elf on the shelf for Kyle don’t have to be left out of this festive activity! Get your own elf and pose him doing naughty things to share with your friends! Why not hey?
watch a Pantomime.
‘Oh no she didn’t. Oh yes, she did’. Those famous words, as celebrities hit the stage this time of year to make us laugh. I am not saying that you need to spend hundreds on theatre tickets. at this time of year, there’s plenty of pantos being shown on the TV. There is definitely something about the pantos, that just screams festive.
This is definitely going to be one of my goals for our Christmas next year, I have been to Pantos before, and have even acted in one in an armature production of one, so I have got my heart set on the mayflower theatre next year.
spend time with your loved ones.
this is the time of year that we all make time in our busy schedules to see our family and friends.
It’s a given! It’s festive to spend time with loved ones is so take every possible opportunity to spend time with the people you care about by doing your Christmas activities with them.
Go ice skating.
I’m not the best skater but it just feels so festive to shove on some funny boots and making a fool of yourself as you confidently fall over on some ice. Perfect winter activity. Since it’s a cold-weather thing it’s the perfect excuse to grab a nice hot chocolate afterwards.
Participate in RAK.
Have you heard of RAK? It’s been around for ages and I have found that not many people have even heard of this. RAK stands for random acts of kindness. This is such a lovely way of spreading some festive cheer at this time of year by doing something randomly kind for a friend, neighbour or stranger. This could even be buying a homeless person some food or a hot drink and gifting it to them.
Consider how a small act of kindness could really make someone’s day. Hopefully, the person your RAK was for will follow on to do another act for someone else.
Make snowflakes and chains
Yes, I suppose that this should really come under Christmas crafts. But making snowflakes by cutting up shapes out of folded white paper. And making your own Christ chains is so fun and definitely a lovely decoration piece. Also, snowflakes and paper chains have been a Christmas decoration for centuries. At one point families didn’t have flashy decorations or lights, so it’s nice to think some classic Christmas traditions are still being kept.
Read a Christmas book
If your a big book reader like me, then this is the perfect activity. Get in bed snuggle up and read a Christmas story, what a lovely way to get in the mood for Christmas. I always find that I get ideas for what I want to do at Christmas by reading stories
Last but not least… ENJOY Christmas.
It doesn’t matter if you are not yet in the Christmas spirit. Or if you are planning to leave it a few more days before you start thinking about Christmas, maybe your half and half. Christmas is not about how much your you have spent or if you have outdone it this year, it isn’t about what you receive under the tree. This is a season, it isn’t just a day, it is a feeling of festiveness. So don’t get down by stress, it’s time that you can enjoy everything that you have been doing. I really think it is so important to remember that this is the most wonderful time of the year. Even if there are things that make you feel sad around this time, family and friends seem to always come together to be supportive. The greatest thing is we have the opportunity to embrace and enjoy, so no matter what it is your doing this year to make your Christmas season special, enjoy every moment.
I would love to hear what your excited to get doing this season in the comments below!
I am so pleased that we had finally gotten around to using our voucher for a Meerkat experience. Emma had received this for her birthday back in December. It took us absolutely ages to get it organised and booked. The voucher included having an encounter with the meerkats, as well as being able to feed them, at the falconry at Millets Farm Centre.
A bit about Millets,
I had never even heard of Millets Farm Centre before, and I didn’t really look into the place before going. I just knew that we were feeding Meerkats in Oxfordshire, which of course was pretty exciting.
After taking a short 2-hour car journey, we had arrived not really knowing what to expect. Before we even got out of the car I was already appreciating the beautiful area. We were so lucky to have randomly picked a day where the sun and sky were absolutely glorious! with no clouds in sight.
When we arrived at Millets
Upon arriving at Millets Centre you are presented with adorable farmhouse buildings. The site is quite big and there was so much too see including. A large play area for the little ones, with so much, space. A cute farm shop next to a beautiful garden centre. A farmhouse restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Millets have an animal walkway, with tons to look at. A huge maze, for family activities. Then, of course, the falconry. With so many beautiful bold birds and so many other things to see and experience.
We started our day by taking a slow stroll down animal walkway, where we were able to meet some awesome creatures.
After, we headed over to the falconry where we took a lovely slow stroll around the many birds. The falconry is also where the meerkats live and where we needed to be. My favourite animal. Well, one of my favourite animals, I love them all.
There were so many different types of falcons, owls and eagles. One thing I would say about these birds is how bold, and strong looking these creatures portray themselves as. They are very stunning things. Especially the American eagle.
The Millets meerkat experience…
The experience included Emma & me along with 4 other members of the public. We were invited into the meerkat enclosure where we were able to take a seat on a bench. All of the staff at Millets Farm Centre are so friendly. We had a girl called Becky who works in the falconry then gave us an impressive talk about the meerkats. This being whilst providing us with raw chicken on tongs to feed the meerkats with. The 30 mins went so quickly because every minute was so much fun. The meerkats had been climbing all over us. It was insane being able to stroke their fur whilst feeding them. Amazing! I always thought they had rough fur. Even though it doesn’t look like it, the fur is so soft and cuddly feeling.
It was honestly so exciting and surreal to be so up close with them, I really did feel in my element all morning! I would really suggest Millets Farm Centre to all of my friends because it is genuinely such a lovely place to go too.
We couldn’t leave the centre without taking a walk around the shops there. I really thought the farm shop was so cute and really did have a variety of things that we wouldn’t normally see in the normal shops. Obviously, we had to buy something so we got some really nice looking cheese and dips for our next Camembert lunch we have with friends. Honestly, we couldn’t resist. Everything in the shop looked so lovely. But, of course, being a farm shop some things were very pricey.
We really enjoyed our experience at Millets Farm Centre and would happily travel there again one day. Such a lovely place to be.
I would highly recommend any of you to take a trip there. Especially booking to see the meerkats, as it’s an utterly amazing experience.
I would love to hear your thoughts on our experience, maybe you have had an experience with Millets, Comment away below.
If you would like to get to know me better, how about reading the A-Z of me.
Over the past few months, I have grown an increasing love for reading. I mean getting lost in another world, what’s there not to love? If you read my May round-up post, as warned, I Maybe talking books a lot more on the blog, so what a way to start. There is nothing better to pass the time then getting deeply involved with a good book. Whether its a fantasy tale that has me on the edge of my chair in a constant daydream of what is happening, to self-help, empowering ride, by someone with a strong mentality wanting there story and advice to be heard, if you haven’t guessed it yet, I’ve been lost in so many different stories recently.
I had noticed an ongoing dispute amongst many people on twitter recently, what is better, a real book or an electronic copy. Many saying that an electronic copy of a book is nothing compared to the original. So… To book or to E-read that is the question!?
well, it got me thinking since there is there’s pretty much 2 ways of reading a story, which one is better? or are they just as good as each other? personally, I feel that they both have pros and cons equally.
Why I love Paper books…
honestly, what is there not to love about a good quality book. Whether it is a brand new copy or a much loved preowned. There is nothing quite like the feel of sitting cosy, flicking through the pages and that book smell, alongside a cup of coffee, sounds lush right? exactly, I honestly believe you cant actually beat a true copy of a book. I love being able to keep my eye out in a charity shop for a few more books every now and then, And who can complain when you are buying a book at 25p? Seriously?
Why I love E-books…
So they may be lacking in the same warm feeling as the physical book. Admittedly they don’t have the loving book smell that every book seems to have. But, I actually think that E-books have so many pros to them as well. How can you honestly fault the ability to hold thousands of books to read all in one place? I don’t have a lot of space in our room for hundreds of physical books. My tablet gives me so much freedom on being able to download. E-books to me, are very convenient. I can carry a book with me 24/7 for an emergency by having the app on my smart devices. great! I will admit one thing! If I love a book that I have read electronically, so much. I will most likely by the physical book as well for me to own.
I mean e-Readers are still relatively new. They are never really gonna have the same feel to the real thing. As a reader, you should be focusing on the quality of the experience as well. Being able to lose yourself in the tablet reading as can compare to the pages of a book.
It’s an equal draw for me…
That’s right, I could probably argue with myself all day on what is the best format but I choose to love both formats! Both have there own pros and cons, but it is personal to me, which is what a book should really be. Even though an E-reader does not have the same feel, it is pretty convenient for me to use half the time. Plus I love the access to so many free books. What do you guys think? Do you prefer a physical book to read, or are you happy to read electronically?
