I previously wrote a post looking back on 2019 here. One of the best things that had happened was bringing Bella home. She had her 6 month birthday on the 25th December, and by then she had been in our life over 4 months. So today I am talking our pet Bella and how she has improved my mental health and Emma’s.
We had talked for absolute months about how we needed and wanted a puppy in our life’s, but it was something that we were going to do when we got our own place. However, we decided in the summer that we couldn’t wait for any longer. Especially having puppy sat for a beautiful pup for a friend. It wasn’t until we actually got Bella that we realised how much of a big difference to us she had made.
Bella is a Jackawawa. We have had her with us since she was 8 weeks old. In fact, I am pretty sure she may have even been slightly younger than 8 weeks. when we first brought Bella home, she was TINY. I literally mean the size of a sky TV remote.
Having a pet can boost your confidence and reduce anxiety.
From the day we brought Bella home with us our life’s changed straight away. She is our little fur baby. Both mine and Emma’s anxieties started decreasing majorly. We had a new and positive focus, and it is still like that to this day. When I am feeling stressed or anxious for whatever reason, Bella comes and gives cuddles and licks my face making me laugh. It must be true that a pet really does feel our emotions and tensions.
A pet is not just a pet, they are family.
Just like other fur baby mummies and daddies, she is part of our family. Bella is not just a pet to us. We know we are not alone either. I see so many people treat their pets as if they are human! Honestly. I am definitely not ashamed to admit, we are there with them.
Positive memories with your pet.
So many photos have been taken and so many memories have already been made. We haven’t even reached a year yet. Her first feed with us, Her first trip into the garden, Her being a manic, her first bath and so many more.
All of these memories are special. We have taken so many photos! Bella even has her own Instagram page here.
Pets help routine.
Almost like owning an alarm clock. Having a pet definitely changes and defines your routine. When they wake up, it is pretty certain they will wanna wake you up too. Your pet doesn’t care what time it is or if you want to laze in bed that day because they need to get up and get outside to do their business. Especially with dogs. Dogs and other pets seem to have this ability to know their own routine inside out! they know exactly when it is their dinner time and when you are going out and coming back. Almost like they can read your mind. Since we got Bella we wake up a lot earlier most days to make sure she’s ok.
They just bring natural happiness.
I honestly just have to look at Bella, and I find myself smiling. Her little face. Her cheeky attitude. I absolutely adore her. Which, just makes me feel so much happiness. She is totally our baby girl, and she is precious to us. I would honestly say that she just naturally ups are mood, making us feel happier on a daily basis. Which is so good for your mental health!
Everything that I have written here today is my own personal opinions and experiences, so I would love to know if you agree or feel the same when it comes to pets. Leave a comment below.
Valentine’s Day being a few days away now I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about ways we can show affection to are loved ones without using words. Each and every love is unique to that Couple. The way they express love through a variety of ways. Over time, we learn just about everything about that person. how they like their coffee or tea. What their favourite tv show is, where they love to spend the most time, even down to their insecurities.
Sometimes we forget that love comes in so many forms and that not every couple shows their emotions and feelings in the same way. age. I am a verbal person. I like using words to express myself. However, my significant other is not. He is more “action-oriented” when it comes to expressing his feelings. Figuring out which method your partner uses to express him/herself is helpful, but there are many small ways we show our love for each other without actually saying “I love you.”
Love is simply one of the most powerful emotions that we all feel from the minute that our lives start. love begins when we are born and love our parents, one of the many types of love that we will experience in our lives.
What is love to you? An expectation of what you need to find, an expression of how you feel or a fairy tale ending.
The world of love is such a complicated experience that we all go through, and when we find the one the words ‘I love you’ never seem enough.
How can you say I love you without actually saying the words?
There are so many ways to express your feelings and devotion to your partner. I would also say that you can express your feelings to your family and friends in some of these ways too.
Write a list of the reasons behind your love.
It’s fair enough to be in love. But to explain why it is you are in love with that person is so valuable. Writing a list of exactly what makes your heart race when you see them, and why they matter to you so much. I’d even include the smallest things because sometimes the smallest things are hugely appreciated.
Plan a low key romantic date.
You don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds on fancy. Love is about enjoying the time together with the other person. It really is not about how much is spent. My favourite time is when I and my Emma are sat enjoying a film night together, with our favourite food. It doesn’t even need to be at the cinema. Fairy lights, Candles, A DVD, popcorn and wine. The perfect ingredients to a romantic night in.
Make a playlist of songs with meaning.
This is like one of the cheesiest things ever, but amazing. Music speaks so much to our emotions and expresses things without needing to say them. So what better then a playlist created especially for them?
Show your love with actions, not words.
Sometimes hearing the words I love you isn’t actually enough. Saying it is one thing but proving your feelings with actions and displays of affection is a completely different ballgame. That feeling of love that rushes to your tummy as they grab you and kiss you for no reason, but that they want too. For example, the first time Emma went to the shop without me and got me a meal deal exactly what I picked, I knew that the thought was everything. So, I say it, It is true. Actions speak louder than words.
Be the listener that they need.
Nothing speaks love more than listening. Something that may not be important to you is probably a really big deal in their eyes.
Being heard is so important. I would actually say that listening and hearing are slightly different. You listened to there day at work, they had a crap day. But did you hear what was said? The emotions? The feelings? Making them feel like what they are talking about matters means a lot. Feeling unheard can lead to feeling lonely and negative. This could simply ruin a relationship and quickly.
Make a sentiment of love book or box.
I love these and as a scrapbooker, I totally am a sentimental hoarder! Well, What I mean is a hoarder of the sentimental things! Does that make sense? Hm. In my boxes, I keep all the silly things, that aren’t actually silly to me. Tickets from places we have been together. Things like that. You could put whatever in your that reminds you of them. Then take the time to look at it together.
Switch off and be totally there.
We can all admit that our devices really can get in the way of reality in this day and age. Since smartphones and apps were created we spend more time using those, then we do each other. Spend a few hours together with your phones and tablets out of your hands! or even off! Enjoy just the time together without being disturbed!
Pay attention to them.
There’s nothing worse than feeling like your efforts are being wasted and going unnoticed. Ensuring your paying attention shows your love for someone. Just by noticing the little things sometimes, like when they have done something slightly different to normal can go so noticed. Ironically.
Make them your first priority
Whether it’s the beginning of a relationship still in the phase of bonding Or a fully committed relationship where your living together, and Have married. Feeling that persons number one priority is such an amazing feeling, it is unreal.
I once wrote a post about being in a love triangle here. Nobody ever wants to feel second-best in life.
The rushing emotions that we feel when the one we love flirts with us are so amazing. Butterflies rushing to our tummies, and let’s be blunt. The automatic horniest feelings. Your excitement, because you are feeling sexy, and loved. Flirting is the most visual way to show your love to another. it doesn’t matter how long you have been together. Every person enjoys a good flirt.
Be willing to compromise.
A true relationship has compromises, and the willingness to compromise. It is not all the time that you are going to agree with your loved ones. By showing the willingness to compromise in different situations shows the ability to understand that person. Compromises can be small or large, but they do make a massive difference in every relationship.
To be honest, Appreciating someone is similar to paying attention to them, but also very different. Have you ever put so much effort in something, that you are so proud of. Then you feel knocked down just by having your efforts ignored. Remember that feeling? Why it upset you? why you didn’t feel like it was fair. Maybe you felt ignored and unworthy. This is the feeling of being unappreciated! And let us be honest, It SUCKS. It is the exact feeling that you are giving to your loved ones when you don’t appreciate them. Something big to think about there, hey?
Leave them happy notes to find
This may be cheesy! You can call me soppy. Being proud to admit that I am a romance lover.
It can’t be helped, I enjoy leaving Emma random notes telling her that I am thinking of her, or little jokes, or even love messages around the house. I even used to leave them in her lunch box. Just something to show my feelings, and make her smile.
Write a list of reasons why you love them.
Get a pen and paper and write a list of as many as you like. Write all the reasons down that makes you feel the way to do. Like the way they smile, the way they do certain things. Etc. Knowing the reasons why they feel the way they do make those reasons even more special.
Can you believe it? It’s that time of year again! It’s December and there are only 4 days left till Christmas. The shops are starting to become unbearable and every single shop is getting more and more hectic by the minute. The stress levels are going up and we’re all trying to get prepared for the biggest day of the year, Christmas Day. We all have similar ambitions for a perfect Christmas Day. But picking the perfect Christmas gifts for our loved ones is not always the easiest and worse yet. We’re running out of time.

Hampers are such a lovely option. A bundle of small gifts but ones that are really thought out. A hamper is such a personalised option to go for. You can buy already made hampers in a range of places, but I would always suggest adding your own touch to these.
Something they can use for their hobbies.
Sometimes having a hobby can be so expensive. Especially for crafters like me. I am always needing (ok, wanting) new supplies for my hobbies. Craft and hobby supplies make the perfect stocking fillers, and you know for certain this will be very much appreciated by whoever you’re gifting them too.

A while back you may have read my post what’s on my desk? Where I spoke about the newest technology that I owned and how excited I was. Well, I thought now would be a great opportunity to finally write a post about this wonderful machine, the Cricut.
I know a few people that are also thinking about investing in the machine. I also have spoken to my friends so much about the Cricut, Weeding, Vinyl and other bits. They have no idea what I am going on about! so what better than to write my own review of owning this machine so far.
So what is Cricut?
The Cricut Explore Air and other versions such as the maker, is a die-cutting machine, in its simplest terms. Think of it as a printer, except a Printer with a blade, and Pen option. Giving you the ability to create a design on your computer and then send it to the machine to cut. The only difference to a printer is instead of using ink you are printing designs by cutting your chosen material.
My story of the Cricut so far…
After absolute years of longing for this machine, I have not yet been left disappointed. The Cricut Explore Air 2 has got me enthusiastic with many different craft ideas. Not to mention a massive new passion for vinyl. I have a beautiful turquoise colour machine, and there is a variety of other colours that you can choose from. Although the machine and everything you need can be a little pricey. It is a well worthwhile investment when you are in the craft world. The opportunities that the Cricut system brings are endless. There is honestly so much that you are able to do with this beautiful machine. It doesn’t matter whether you are a papercraft enthuses, vinyl, or anything else. The Cricut can do so many things for any passionate crafter.
So it has been over 2 months since my Cricut Explore Air 2 had been purchased. Playing with vinyl has now become my favourite thing to do with the Cricut so far. I really do enjoy personalising so many items with names, and pictures, or a few words. I can print on to fabric, like T-shirts and canvas bags. Personalising any decor items, so far the options have been limitless.
When my journey with the Cricut Explore first began I felt completely new to the Cricut world. Even though I had experience using one of the older versions of the machine. Although I would mainly use for scrapbooking projects and did not have as many functions. Actually, the original machine uses cartridges only which are pretty pricey and extremely limited.
Design Space is where it is at!
One of the best features of the Cricut explore and newer versions are the Cricut Design Space. This can be loaded on to any smartphone or tablet device, as well as the computer. The computer does give access to a few extra options. I haven’t had problems using the app on my iPhone or iPad. In fact, I completely love it. There is a lot of flexibility, by having a Cricut access subscription account. You can have 1000’s of images and projects at the tips of your fingers. The Cricut library has so many free SVG files. There are also many websites that you can download and upload to the DS. These are usually to be created for your own personal gain. This could also be a business venture when buying commercial licences for the files.
A few examples…
I know that I have already mentioned my love for vinyl, but there are many different ways to use vinyl. As well as using vinyl for decor, there are so many options you can do. Using Vinyl for a template for instance. We now use vinyl as a template for Glass engraving. I have even painted some designs on to doormats and canvas.
But like I said vinyl is not the only material that the Cricut machine can cut. Card, paper, Fabric, Posterboard, and so much more. So depending on your hobby, owning the Cricut could really be a game-changer to every crafter. Scrapbooking, engraving, painting, honestly so much more that I probably don’t even know about yet. Believe me, though, I can not wait to play and find out. Also! Did you know that the Cricut explore range can hold a Pen! Yes, that’s right! it can draw & write, another amazing feature.
I literally have a list of project ideas that I want to do as long as my arm right now!
Above is a project that took me hours, but worth every minute. Pretty card stock, a hot glue gun and a load of patience I created a beautiful load or 3D flowers. I then used these inside a 3D box frame, which turned out lovely. This project took ages, and swearing loads because the hot glue gun was hot and I kept burning myself. The projects itself I am so happy with, and I do like a good fiddly project.
To anyone questioning buying a Cricut…
If anyone was to ask me, should I give in and buy a Cricut? I would probably do a really exciting squeal. Rambling about how much I love the Cricut. then overfeeding information about what the Cricut machine can do. Then I would ask them one simple questions… Do you have a passion for crafting? If the answer is yes. Do it! The Cricut community is amazing, and there is so much benefit from owning such an amazing machine. I would suggest doing some of your own research before you buy. You will need tools and materials alongside owning the machine. It is beneficial to be able to get the accessories alongside the machine. Believe me, there is so much to choose from. My next stop with be saving for and buying the Cricut east heat press.
So what do you think? Does the Cricut machine sound like a match for you?
I’d love to know your thoughts and opinions, as always leave me some love below.
I am so pleased that we had finally gotten around to using our voucher for a Meerkat experience. Emma had received this for her birthday back in December. It took us absolutely ages to get it organised and booked. The voucher included having an encounter with the meerkats, as well as being able to feed them, at the falconry at Millets Farm Centre.
A bit about Millets,
I had never even heard of Millets Farm Centre before, and I didn’t really look into the place before going. I just knew that we were feeding Meerkats in Oxfordshire, which of course was pretty exciting.
After taking a short 2-hour car journey, we had arrived not really knowing what to expect. Before we even got out of the car I was already appreciating the beautiful area. We were so lucky to have randomly picked a day where the sun and sky were absolutely glorious! with no clouds in sight.
When we arrived at Millets
Upon arriving at Millets Centre you are presented with adorable farmhouse buildings. The site is quite big and there was so much too see including. A large play area for the little ones, with so much, space. A cute farm shop next to a beautiful garden centre. A farmhouse restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Millets have an animal walkway, with tons to look at. A huge maze, for family activities. Then, of course, the falconry. With so many beautiful bold birds and so many other things to see and experience.
We started our day by taking a slow stroll down animal walkway, where we were able to meet some awesome creatures.
After, we headed over to the falconry where we took a lovely slow stroll around the many birds. The falconry is also where the meerkats live and where we needed to be. My favourite animal. Well, one of my favourite animals, I love them all.
There were so many different types of falcons, owls and eagles. One thing I would say about these birds is how bold, and strong looking these creatures portray themselves as. They are very stunning things. Especially the American eagle.
The Millets meerkat experience…
The experience included Emma & me along with 4 other members of the public. We were invited into the meerkat enclosure where we were able to take a seat on a bench. All of the staff at Millets Farm Centre are so friendly. We had a girl called Becky who works in the falconry then gave us an impressive talk about the meerkats. This being whilst providing us with raw chicken on tongs to feed the meerkats with. The 30 mins went so quickly because every minute was so much fun. The meerkats had been climbing all over us. It was insane being able to stroke their fur whilst feeding them. Amazing! I always thought they had rough fur. Even though it doesn’t look like it, the fur is so soft and cuddly feeling.
It was honestly so exciting and surreal to be so up close with them, I really did feel in my element all morning! I would really suggest Millets Farm Centre to all of my friends because it is genuinely such a lovely place to go too.
We couldn’t leave the centre without taking a walk around the shops there. I really thought the farm shop was so cute and really did have a variety of things that we wouldn’t normally see in the normal shops. Obviously, we had to buy something so we got some really nice looking cheese and dips for our next Camembert lunch we have with friends. Honestly, we couldn’t resist. Everything in the shop looked so lovely. But, of course, being a farm shop some things were very pricey.
We really enjoyed our experience at Millets Farm Centre and would happily travel there again one day. Such a lovely place to be.
I would highly recommend any of you to take a trip there. Especially booking to see the meerkats, as it’s an utterly amazing experience.
I would love to hear your thoughts on our experience, maybe you have had an experience with Millets, Comment away below.
If you would like to get to know me better, how about reading the A-Z of me.
I recently wrote a post about what’s on my desk, and as I plan big things for the future. My life has been pretty hectic. I thought that now would be the perfect opportunity to talk about the greatest art of them all. Keeping organised.
Are you like me with a thousand things going on in your mind right this second. Then you have about a hundred different things that you really need to do? No matter how hard you try sometimes it feels like you are never going to catch up! like all that life stuff just seems to get in the way of just everything that you need to do! Maybe you have too many plans and there is just not enough hours in the day. It can literally feel like a rollercoaster that you are stuck on. No brakes, and no way of getting off. Scary hey? but you are not alone. Literally there are thousands of people exactly the same right this minute! Even the most organised can have moments where life is mental as hell and cannot get all their shit together.
Let us be honest. Life really can be a bitch at times. Life is so busy at times that it is hard to get a break from it. Catching up can seem like mission impossible. So what can we do to get ourselves to keep going? and feel like we are heading in the right direction again?
Stop and breathe!
Honestly, this is probably one of the most important steps to getting yourself in a calm and organised. I know that if you are reading this, you are wanting to get organised and productive. You probably feel like you must do it all and do it all now. So we need to learn that it is so important to stop. Take a breath. Don’t panic. Being unorganised and having a lot to do is stressful but if you can just take a minute. Gathering your thoughts will be a massive game-changer for you. what I mean is, by taking it slow fewer mistakes will happen. Being in control of what it is you have planned. You are going to feel less of a want to give up before you have even begun.
So now that you are calm and you have taken a break, let’s think it all out! It may sound pretty cliche honestly, but I do believe in to-do lists. Even if they never seem to end. Sit down and recap everything. This helps you work out the most productive way to do things. Anything to be able to save a bit of time. As well as making it possible to remember everything you need to do!. A brilliant idea would be to keep an active notebook with an ongoing list. You can add to whenever you need, at whatever time. The feeling of crossing an item off the list when it has been completed is quite satisfying.
Also by making a list, you can priorities what actually needs to be down first and what can wait. Meaning you will not need to stress. You will be able to confidently work to deadlines, knowing you have completed your ‘To-Dos’ efficiently. Pretty awesome hey?
Use your phone
Honestly, how many times in life can you say that you do not carry your devices around with us 24/7? We literally have this amazing device that we do so much with. So why not use your smartphone as your personal PA? It is the ideal way of constant reminders and keeping yourself on the ball.
You can sort yourself so that all of your important dates and appointments in your calendar on your phone. Then set your phone to remind you with an alert. I find it really useful as well that you can even share an open calendar with loved ones. So not only are you reminding yourself, you are making sure everyone else is on point too.
I literally have 100 reminders set to go off to remind me at times to do things. That is how I roll! and it works! When something comes up it really does push me to get up and get it sorted. It really is the things that I have not added, I forget.
Organise with Planners
A Planner is my favourite purchase of the year. At the moment I am a proud owner of a Mambi Happy Planner, I absolutely love it. My planner is another creative space for me with all my upcoming adventures and chores written in. I have been using one for 2 years now. As well as a standard planner. I would suggest to anybody, especially anyone who has a love for stationary. I’m thinking of even trying a different style next year and getting the Erin colder life planner.
But don’t get me wrong. You don’t need a fancy planner. A basic one will do just fine as long as you stick to writing everything you basically need too.
Find your Zone
And by Zone, I mean your own space! like a little corner of your room or house, that is completely yours for getting stuff done! It’s such a good idea since I have my own desk the way that I work has changed so much. I almost never have my laptop on the bed anymore! Being able to happy to sit in my ‘zone’ which I have personalised to be a bit of me. I am able to craft and create for hours at a time without any distractions or excuses. Even if you can’t have an office like set up or anything like that. I would still suggest you have an appropriate space where you can get shit done. It is such an amazing tool!
Sticky notes are your organising friend!
So speaking of sticky things… I have always had a massive love for sticky notes. I can quite easily have them everywhere. Full of reminders, info or just a few doodles and inspirational phrases. Plus leaving messages for yourself on pretty and coloured paper can really brighten up a room.
Another really important factor for the skills of being organised. Time management. Ensuring that you are able to give yourself enough time to complete tasks. Being able to take your time on whatever it is you are doing. is so so important. Don’t set yourself a task that is going to take you 3 hours, when you only have 1 hour free. That is just setting yourself for failure. You will be less likely to complete what it is you are doing, and that would just suck wouldn’t it? no one likes too many open projects at one time hey?
So what keeps you organised?
These most important factors that I can think of. Methods that I actually use to keep myself organised and on the right path! I would always encourage all of my friends to try these ways of getting back on track! and never giving up, you can do whatever you put your mind to.
So guys. What are the methods that you guys would suggest? I would love to hear your comments and suggestions below! so I look forward to hearing from you all.
If you like my posts, please think about following me on Instagram.
Firstly a very big thank you to BlueHillB at BlueHillBlogger for nominating me for the Blogger recognition award. I really appreciate the nomination, and it just goes to show how supportive the blogging community are, especially on twitter.
I recently wrote a post contributing to the Sunshine Blogger award, Which you can read here.
About the Blogger recognition award
The blogger recognition award is an award that is given to bloggers by the bloggers. This helps the fellow bloggers to get their work the recognition it deserves. It’s a really good way of helping each other out. It aims to help blogger get their work recognised and promoted to other bloggers.
These are some rules the nominees must follow for the Blogger recognition award.
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and add a link to their blog 2. Write a blog post on your site displaying the award and describe why you started your blog. 3. Write two pieces of advice for the new bloggers 4. Nominate and notify 15 more bloggers.
Why I Started Blogging…
When I started my blog I wanted to find a creative space where I could express myself and get my crazy thoughts out there. I had always been very shy and really unconfident. I really believe that by starting my blog I have really grown in myself. I’ve made so many friends and learnt so many new things. I have a place I can really show who I am. This is all because I started my blog.
Advice For New Bloggers
My first bit of advice to anyone who is starting out as a blogger, be your self. It can be a pretty intimidating world out there on the internet and sometimes it is so hard not to compare yourself to other bloggers and influencers out there. If your looking for your blog to be successful, don’t for one minute think that it is going to happen overnight. It really doesn’t work like that. The more hard work you put in the more you will strive as a blogger.
Secondly, be creative with your posts, make sure all your content is as original as it can be. To be able to stand out from the crowd, you need to show your unique style. However, It can be pretty tough, especially when it comes to thinking of constant and consistent ideas. It is very worth the efforts. I would suggest keeping a notebook. That notebook will be a lifesaver. I literally can be in bed and scribble a few lines in at 3 am with an idea for something.
