If you didn’t already realise (And I am guessing you probably have by now) It’s valentine’s day on Monday! Don’t panic if you have forgotten though, In this post, I am giving you 7 really simple ideas to make the evening special. They are so easy, that anyone could sort these!
Valentine’s day is like marmite. You either love it, or you hate it.
Personally, Emma and I have always agreed that Valentine’s is a bit too Commercialised and we do not need just one day to show our love for each other. We love and show our love for each other every day.
However, saying that. There is absolutely nothing wrong in enjoying an annually celebrated day, just because… well why not.
I 100% agree that you do not need to go overboard with tons of overly commercialised valentines merchandise. Do you really need another I love you teddy bear on the shelf just because the stores think you should show your love in that way? Maybe just a card would do. It’s a lovely thing to have as a keepsake.
Instead of breaking the bank on needless spending, you can make your Valentine’s Day special enough just by spending time together and making memories.
Want to say I love you without the words? Check out my post on how, here.
7 really simple things to do with your loved one on Valentine’s evening.
1. A candle lit movie.
Nothing beats a movie night.
Adding some candles and fairy lights really makes it that little bit more romantic. Then with some blankets and pillows, no one is really ever too grown up to make a pillow fort, are they? It’s the dream, right?
The hard bit is choosing the film you are going to watch.
2. Cook a meal together.
Forget about whose turn it is to do the cooking, and make it an activity to spend time together for the evening. Turn cooking into fun. Not only are you spending time together bonding, but the result is also a tasty romantic meal to be proud of.
Decide on a meal that both of you love, maybe one that you cannot be bothered to make normally. Cooking from scratch together is not only rewarding but more enjoyable when you have made the meal yourselves.
3. Pamper each other.
Have a lovely bath, Get cosy, and chuck on your robes.
whether it is a foot spa night, some cheeky massages or a well-deserved facemask. You could even go all out and add some cucumbers to the eyes and give it the proper spa effect.
Not only does having a pamper benefit your own self-care and mental wellbeing, but it improves your connection with your other half.

4. Fondue for two.
Chocolate or cheese, take your pick!
perhaps organise a melted cheese evening, such as camembert, and enjoy this alongside your favourite meats and wine. Or melt some chocolate and dip strawberries and marshmallows. Yummy!
5. Get creative together.
And I don’t mean in the bedroom.
Getting creative is a great way to spend some time together bonding. Maybe you could have a competition making a gift for each other or get the art pads out and attempt to draw each other. You’ll end up with a keepsake at the end, as well as probably having a laugh if you’re not very skilled at drawing!
6. Play some games.
I love a games night. There are plenty of games that you can play with just 2 players. Even a game of rummy! maybe give the game a twist, Strip poker anyone?
7. Have an early night 😉.
OK, this time I actually do mean the bedroom department.
Let’s be real, nothing quite beats an early night. Snuggled up in bed.
How will you be spending your Valentine’s evening?
I’d love to hear what you are doing this valentines evening, will you be doing something special with a loved one, a Galentines with your besties, or snuggled up in bed doing absolutely nothing?
