Love Crafts – A review of Life is a wild ride cross stitch kit.

This post contains gifted items. However all thoughts are my own.

I was absolutely filled with excitement when Sarah from Love Crafts contacted me for a collaboration with the opportunity to take a look at their craft kits.
As a massive lover of a variety of crafts, it is so nice to experience having a go at the different kits there are.

When I was a child I learnt how to cross-stitch. It was one of those things my mum taught me how to do when I was going through all my surgeries on my legs.

Back then my mental health wasn’t very good either. I was going through a time where I wasn’t able to walk whilst I recovered from surgery. So I went through a lot of cross stitch kits.
When lockdown started I decided to start picking up the cross stitch kits I had started a while ago. I hadn’t yet finished these because of a general lack of time and motivation.
Over the past few weeks, I have been posting on my Instagram my progress of this beautiful cross stitch kit!
Finally, I can tell you more about my experience with this kit and what I loved. As talking a bit about cross-stitching crafts positive impacts.

Cross stitch is so good for your positive wellbeing!

A while back I wrote an entire post on why crafting is good for your mental health, here. One of my favourite crafts that I find the best for my mental health and anxiety is cross-stitch. One of the things I absolutely love about cross Stitching is how its such a relaxing and therapeutic hobby. I am completely cross-stitching obsessed recently for that very reason. I really love being able to sit down and chill out for a few hours relaxed with some embroidery things. Stitching is a craft that is so relaxing. I would suggest it to anyone who is having stress or anxiety. This is an amazing method of release. Or of course, anyone that is just bored.

love crafts

So. let’s talk about the Love Crafts life is a wild ride kit that I completed.

The link to this specific kit is here.

One of the things I particularly loved about this kit is complete unique bold style.

One of the first things I really noticed when unpackaging this kit was the threads. The threads in this kit are absolutely lush! the vibrant colours are so bold and really stand out against the Aida. I also noted how soft and silky the threads are. The threads staid smooth the whole time that I was using them. which proves they are a really good standard thread. The silky texture made the threads easy to separate and generally I just felt they looked very neat throughout.

This kit is marked as intermediate. For cross stitchers who are more experienced/confident. However, I feel if you feel confident with counting the squares and stitch spaces, I would say that you would not have any problems completing this kit!

The kit took me a week to complete. Cross stitching for an hour or more every evening.

Its not just the Love Crafts kit I love…

Love Crafts run such a lovely website as well as shop. The Love Crafts website and social media are full of crafting tips and tricks. As well as this they have interviews with some pretty amazing crafters. I definitely suggest adding their blog to your bookmarks list, as I found there website rather inspiring as a crafter!

13 shows I am loving on Netflix right now

Netflix

With us all being at home so much in the past few months, we have been resorting to the television quite a lot. So a lot of our time has been spent watching Netflix, can you blame us? I am not gonna lie though, Netflix really has been the best for video streaming. There is so much choice on what to watch and Both myself and Emma have found us completely hooked on these series.

Most of these are Netflix originals.

1. Tiger King

Tiger King

Without even commenting on the wardrobe of Joe, Tiger King just had to sit at the top of the list for me. Truly an outrages man is Joe Exotic who runs/owns his own family of tigers. The series is a documentary that reveals the feud between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, Joes tiger owner rival.
Carole is accused of killing her former husband who mysteriously disappeared. Seriously, Everyone is talking about Tiger King, if you haven’t watched it yet, You NEED too.

“Carole Baskin. Killed her husband, whacked him. Can’t convince me that it didn’t happen. Fed him to tigers, they snacking.”

TikTok
If you are not busy watching Netflix series what else are you doing? How about reading lockdown activity suggestions, here.

2. Too hot to handle

A group of the hottest & horniest girls and guys put together in a villa, and told they can not have sex, cannot touch, and no kissing. What could go wrong? well If they break the rules, money is deducted from the jackpot! Absolutely brilliant and hilarious series! similar to Love Island, or Ex on the beach! so if you are into those I would definitely suggest watching Too hot to Handle.

3. American Horror Story

AHS is a brilliant series for anyone who loves a bit of weird and wonderful. I was so excited when I found out I could watch AHS from the beginning on Netflix. There is plenty of blood, plenty of murder, and I would say a lot of weirdness. I absolutely have loved watching AHS from the beginning again.

4. Sex Education

Average schoolboy, trying to make it through high school years. His mum is a sex therapist. Before he knows it he’s being paid by fellow classmates for sex advice… The young sex councillor who is still a virgin! This series kept leaving me in stitches.

5. The Stranger

From the very first episode I was wanting more and more, there is so many twists, and lack of expectations leaving you wanting more. Could you imagine having a stranger come from out of nowhere and start revealing personal secrets connected to you? Having your life completely turned upside down. Then to face your partner’s disappearance as more lies unveil.

6. Brew Brothers

Two rather immature brothers fighting to keep a brewery from going out of business. It is a fantastic comedy, for a Netflix original. I only put this on as we were having a day where we couldn’t find anything to do or watch and we were at the point we were feeling a bit like we had outwatched Netflix. However, I really don’t think it is possible to outwatch Netflix, especially not when there are so many golden nuggets like this little show.

7. You

The infamous Joe, Book shop manager. Friend? Boyfriend? psychopath? Cold-blooded killer? He is all of the above and more. The man who would do absolutely anything for love. Joe falls in love with Beck, Stalks her till she is his. An awkward romance becomes something even more sinister when the writer Beck, becomes the obsession. Using social media and the internet, he uses every tool at his disposal to become close to her, even going so far as to remove any obstacle and any person that stands in his way of getting to her. I completely rate watching You, its a brilliant series.

8. The Good Place

Anyone else loves a comedy series? I promise I am not always watching dark and weird, I also love inspiring and funny! The good place is definitely funny. A group of people sent to a good place supposedly to be their very own heaven! but they soon work out that the ‘good’ place is not quite what it seems! Without giving too much away! this is such a good series.

9. Girl Boss

Girl Boss

When I watched Girl Boss, I was absolutely left inspired by Sophia Amoruso. It all started with a jacket. Which she sold on eBay for way more than she purchased it from when she brought it from a vintage thrift store. Sophia started her empire from nothing, broke girl turning girl boss. She is Nasty Gal. A now huge business that sells fashion clothes. After I watched this I brought the book straight away! if you are in the need of some creative inspiring than watch Girl Boss!

10. 13 Reasons why

Netflix

13 Reasons why is one of the netflix series I literally was glued to for a few days! Literally because I binged on it so much! I had watched it within 3 days. The character ‘Hannah’ leaves 13 tapes, after her death, explaining why she took her own life. So many people involved, as we watch the journey of naive ‘clay’ as he listens to the videos.

Mental health is something that is so close to my heart, how about checking out my recent post on mental health awareness week, here.

11. Sabrina

I was absolutely hooked on Sabrina the Teenage witch! So I was absolutely buzzing when this came out! were now a few seasons in and Sabrina has not been letting us down! a so much more adult and darker version of the original Sabrina the teenage witch! Just one warning though, if your looking for it to be funny and light-hearted this is not for you!

12. iZombie

Can you imagine waking up dead?? like literally you are now a zombie, and you need to survive by eating brains, but the only way you can taste any flavour is to have extra hot sauce all over the brains. This is a brilliant series where not only does Liv use the brains of the people sent to the mortuary where she already worked! she then sees visions of how the person died! And obtains that persons personality, whilst she solves crime!

13. Santa Clarita Diet

Ok yep, another series that involves zombies/grossness. I see a theme with my favourite programs lately! but Santa Clarita diet is another ‘Horror comedy” making my list! This one is so funny! Turned zombie mum keeps up her perfect appearances as well as eating people. it doesn’t take long to arouse suspicion from the neighbours!

Admittedly after all this, we have now downloaded the entire box set of Keeping up with the Kardashians!

I would love to hear what you have been watching whilst stuck in lockdown? I love new suggestions on what to watch, and I probably will get to them still.

CBD oil – Should you be considering taking this supplement?

AD: This post contains affiliate links and gifted items. However, all thoughts and content are my own.
If you decide to try CBD oil, Bristol CBD are offering a fabulous 15% off with code “ALEXA15” on their website here.

Good morning everyone, Happy April! And positive thoughts to everyone who feels that they have been in isolation forever. We have certainly been feeling the effects that the Lockdown has on us. So I am feeling quite grateful this week as I am talking about something completely not Coronavirus related. Today I am taking CBD oil from Bristol CBD.

I had been really excited when Bristol CBD offered me the opportunity to test their CBD oil product. I have already been taking CBD for a while now and already know of the benefits. So to try a new brand new product is always exciting.

What is CBD oil?

For those of you that do not know what CBD is, it is a Cannabidiol. A food supplement that has been being used across the world to help aid health conditions.

The usage of CBD has been highly discussed and debated by many health officials as the most controversial supplement available. Mainly due to the source, being the Marijuana plant.

Cannabidiol may be sourced and extracted from the Marijuana plant paste, that lives within the flowers of the same plant as ‘weed’ however dose not contain the THC chemical which is often used by smoking. (So basically no you can’t get high off this). The WHO (World Health Organisation) stipulates that CBD oil is non-toxic, non-addictive and non-psychoactive product.

Why I have been taking CBD.

I started to take CBD a few months ago when it was recommended to me by a friend who had been suffering from cramps and anxiety. So for me, it sounded like something worth trying, as I am always open to trying new natural methods of improving my pain symptoms and anxiety.

At first, I found the taste of CBD oil really hard to swallow. However, I have found that not giving up and persisting I got used to the taste pretty quickly.

The longer I have taken CBD oil the more I notice the benefits of the supplement, I feel more relaxed and this has been improving the continuous pain I’ve been having in my stomach.

I previously wrote a post explaining how being ill has affected my mental health, here. Some of these issues have improved since I started taking CBD oil in November, (After having written this post).

How do you actually use CBD oil?

To take CBD oil in liquid form, you need to take a few droplets under your tongue, 2 – 3 times a day. There are a variety of different percentages of CBD you can take. I have been taking 5% happily, which is also what Bristol CBD sent me.

CBD oil

What are the benefits of CBD oil?

The benefits of CBD oil are wide and varied and it is sold legally in the UK as a food supplement. CBD has been known to help with the symptoms of Anxiety Depression, Muscle Pain, Sickness and nausea from treatments such as chemotherapy, Acne and some other skin problems. The supplement has also been linked to having improvements for blood pressure and benefitting a persons heart and circulatory system.

What do I like about Bristol CBD?

Bristol CBD is such a caring and helpful shop. On their website, they say “We want everyone to be able to afford premium quality CBD oil” and honestly I have to agree. As I compare this to the high street and some other brands I have brought in the past. The CBD they supply is really good quality for the money it costs to buy. They also offer free delivery! which is an epic bonus!

The Bristol CBD team are really supportive, and informative about their product. I would highly recommend their CBD to any of my friends.

Don’t forget – If you decide to try CBD oil, Bristol CBD are offering a fabulous 15% off with code “ALEXA15” on their website here.

A Christmas woodland walk at keydells.

Since my post ‘here we are in November’ we have been getting so busy. With getting ready for Christmas and getting my business up and running, it has been chaos. It’s no surprise that we were super excited to start the festive trips. Keydells nurseries were no exception.
When it comes to Christmas, Garden Centres, are one of the most popular places to visit. As most centres make a special effort for the Christmas season.

Keydell is a nursery (garden centre) in Horndean, Hampshire. It is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year. However, we do make a special annual trip there for a Christmasy family day.

So what is the Keydells woodland walk?

Keydell’s woodland walk is a beautiful Christmas walk around with so much to look at all around you. The staff at keydell should be so proud of what they have created.

The woodland walk itself is under £5 per person, and well worth the money to get in at any age. You can find the ticket prices on their website here.

Each area is themed so differently to the next. It is very obvious how much effort the staff have gone into these displays. The sheer amount of detail, and imaginative stories these scenes tell.

Adorable characters that sing and move, the smell of tinsel, pretty tinkering lights, glitter. Everything makes this room feel festive. It is impossible not to be sucked into the Christmas excitement.
You can tell how popular the nursey is at this time of year. We were eager and took our trip on the 23rd of November. The whole place was already busy with plenty of people walking around seeing the magic of Keydell at Christmas.

Festive unicorn ^_^

If you are thinking about taking a trip to Keydells, you need to have your camera ready. There are so many photo opportunities on the walk. For example, a model Santa where you can sit on his lap. Cute right?

Spending almost an hour around the trail. That is not all though…

We spent another hour looking at all the beautiful Christmas decorations that Keydell have available to buy in-store. There are literally thousands of ornaments, light sets and Christmasy decor. It’s OK. We managed not to spend too much money, but that was so hard. I could picture so many of the decks making the house look pretty.

We really had such a lovely day! I would love to hear if you have had an experience visiting Keydell.
Or do you know somewhere else that is well worth the journey to go and see Christmas magic!

Taking a look at Pretty Peachy subscription box

This post contains gifted items from Pretty Peachy Co.

I am a big fan when it comes to subscription boxes and this month I have been lucky enough to partner with Pretty Peachy Co. You can find their website here.
The thing I love about the variety of subscription boxes that we have available to us, every order is a little bit like Christmas no matter where you are in the year. You may have read my June post review on the Crafty Vine subscription box If you haven’t take a look here.
With subscription boxes, you truly do not know what is inside until you have received the box, and your opening it up for yourself. I seem to get a rush of excitement and anticipation to find out what is inside when the latest box falls through my front door!

The pretty peachy team are a relatively new company who are providing us with some pretty awesome subscription boxes, “The PEACHY BOX containing 5 goodies, including skincare, haircare, makeup, jewellery and so much more!”. So I am very excited to be sharing with you guys my thoughts on the box that I received from them.

Before I start talking about how much I love the box I received from the Pretty Peachy team let me give you 5 reasons why I love subscription boxes.

The content is random, and a surprise every time.

I love receiving my subscription boxes on an unexpected day! another reason to smile!

Subscription boxes can contain items that are more expensive than the box itself! I love a good find!

Some items in the box can also be a try before you buy! as you can get hooked to new products!

They are just FUN. Plain and simple. Ok?

Talking inside the box…

Firstly I would really like to point out how pretty and eye-catching the box is. I really like the packaging, the peach and pastel-coloured box is a pretty awesome design! I love that inside they have included a selection of sparkly gems. The gems added the nicest touch to the box when opening up and seeing them glistening back at me.

This months box has been themed on ‘all about you!’ and The Pretty Peachy team have outdone themselves with this theme.

Pretty Peachy Cute Meow Socks

Firstly looking at the really cute pair of Cotton Grey Meow Socks, I adore these. The socks are themed on cats which are really cute. not the theme for everyone but I really do think these are cute. They are super soft to touch which is just what you want for a cosy pair of socks. I think these would be the perfect socky item for a day of self-care! The socks have been embroidered with the word ‘Meow’ with a cute white heart and paw print pattern on them. How bloody cute is this?

Marble cosmetics bag

Next up in my box, an elegant looking ‘cosmetic storage bag’ a stunning black and marble themed pattern. I love the bag, it is really smooth and with a touch of gold for the zip! Also, I would say that its a really practical size, and something that I personally would definitely benefit from using. I’m pretty sure that anyone who is a fan of makeup would find a use for such an item. It is perfect as a makeup accessory.

Beauty Glazed Mars Bright Eye Shadow Palette

The makeup included ‘Beauty Glazed Mars bright eye shadow palette‘. What an amazing little treat to have found! The Beauty Glazed palettes are awesome and actually, this one is a new favourite! The palette itself has a really sweet smell to it. Honestly, the fragrance had made the whole box smell amazing upon arrival. I love how bright the colours are inside. I tried some of the shiny looking eye shadows included in the Mars palette and they are so nice! My favourite colour is glittery pink (of course).

Pretty Peachy Makeup Brush

The makeup brush that has been included is another item that I am really impressed with. However, I admit I can be so fussy when it comes to makeup brushes. I mean no one wants to feel a cactus running over their skin as they are applying their makeup right? Well, this brush is absolutely the right amount of soft! The bristles feel amazing against your skin. Having tried it now it’s perfect for applying liquid foundation, or even as a contour brush! Love it!

A beautiful bangle

Finally included in the box I found a beautiful bangle bracelet decorated with hearts. I love bangles, they are the perfect finishing piece to any outfit. Pretty and girly.

The Pretty Peachy team have successfully produced a stunning subscription box that can appeal to many. I love how connected the products have been with their theme ‘All about you’. I honestly feel that it is well worth subscribing in the future for £15 a box. The pretty Peachy team will be including a massive range of product in each box. “you will never receive the same item twice no matter how long you subscribe for!”I cant wait to see what else Pretty Peachy will be bringing us.

What do you guys think? Are subscription boxes for you? what do you think about the range from Pretty Peachy?

Why I think The Cricut Explore Air 2 is any crafters best friend

A while back you may have read my post what’s on my desk? Where I spoke about the newest technology that I owned and how excited I was. Well, I thought now would be a great opportunity to finally write a post about this wonderful machine, the Cricut.

I know a few people that are also thinking about investing in the machine. I also have spoken to my friends so much about the Cricut, Weeding, Vinyl and other bits. They have no idea what I am going on about! so what better than to write my own review of owning this machine so far.

Cricut explore air 2
Introducing my Cricut Explore Air 2.

So what is Cricut?

The Cricut Explore Air and other versions such as the maker, is a die-cutting machine, in its simplest terms. Think of it as a printer, except a Printer with a blade, and Pen option. Giving you the ability to create a design on your computer and then send it to the machine to cut. The only difference to a printer is instead of using ink you are printing designs by cutting your chosen material.

My story of the Cricut so far…

After absolute years of longing for this machine, I have not yet been left disappointed. The Cricut Explore Air 2 has got me enthusiastic with many different craft ideas. Not to mention a massive new passion for vinyl. I have a beautiful turquoise colour machine, and there is a variety of other colours that you can choose from. Although the machine and everything you need can be a little pricey. It is a well worthwhile investment when you are in the craft world.
The opportunities that the Cricut system brings are endless. There is honestly so much that you are able to do with this beautiful machine. It doesn’t matter whether you are a papercraft enthuses, vinyl, or anything else. The Cricut can do so many things for any passionate crafter.

So it has been over 2 months since my Cricut Explore Air 2 had been purchased. Playing with vinyl has now become my favourite thing to do with the Cricut so far. I really do enjoy personalising so many items with names, and pictures, or a few words. I can print on to fabric, like T-shirts and canvas bags. Personalising any decor items, so far the options have been limitless.

Cricut tools
Out of all of the Cricut tools I own, these are my go too.

When my journey with the Cricut Explore first began I felt completely new to the Cricut world. Even though I had experience using one of the older versions of the machine. Although I would mainly use for scrapbooking projects and did not have as many functions. Actually, the original machine uses cartridges only which are pretty pricey and extremely limited.

Design Space is where it is at!

One of the best features of the Cricut explore and newer versions are the Cricut Design Space. This can be loaded on to any smartphone or tablet device, as well as the computer. The computer does give access to a few extra options. I haven’t had problems using the app on my iPhone or iPad. In fact, I completely love it. There is a lot of flexibility, by having a Cricut access subscription account. You can have 1000’s of images and projects at the tips of your fingers.
The Cricut library has so many free SVG files. There are also many websites that you can download and upload to the DS. These are usually to be created for your own personal gain. This could also be a business venture when buying commercial licences for the files.

A few examples…

I know that I have already mentioned my love for vinyl, but there are many different ways to use vinyl. As well as using vinyl for decor, there are so many options you can do. Using Vinyl for a template for instance. We now use vinyl as a template for Glass engraving. I have even painted some designs on to doormats and canvas.

Cricut cutting
Pretty paper ready to go!

But like I said vinyl is not the only material that the Cricut machine can cut. Card, paper, Fabric, Posterboard, and so much more. So depending on your hobby, owning the Cricut could really be a game-changer to every crafter. Scrapbooking, engraving, painting, honestly so much more that I probably don’t even know about yet. Believe me, though, I can not wait to play and find out. Also! Did you know that the Cricut explore range can hold a Pen! Yes, that’s right! it can draw & write, another amazing feature.

I literally have a list of project ideas that I want to do as long as my arm right now!

Above is a project that took me hours, but worth every minute. Pretty card stock, a hot glue gun and a load of patience I created a beautiful load or 3D flowers. I then used these inside a 3D box frame, which turned out lovely. This project took ages, and swearing loads because the hot glue gun was hot and I kept burning myself. The projects itself I am so happy with, and I do like a good fiddly project.

To anyone questioning buying a Cricut…

If anyone was to ask me, should I give in and buy a Cricut? I would probably do a really exciting squeal. Rambling about how much I love the Cricut. then overfeeding information about what the Cricut machine can do. Then I would ask them one simple questions…
Do you have a passion for crafting?
If the answer is yes. Do it! The Cricut community is amazing, and there is so much benefit from owning such an amazing machine. I would suggest doing some of your own research before you buy. You will need tools and materials alongside owning the machine. It is beneficial to be able to get the accessories alongside the machine. Believe me, there is so much to choose from. My next stop with be saving for and buying the Cricut east heat press.

So what do you think? Does the Cricut machine sound like a match for you?

I’d love to know your thoughts and opinions, as always leave me some love below.

The craft Vine – June’s subscription box review

Both I and my partner have been signed up to The craft vine and have been receiving their subscription boxes for 3 months now and so far I have been very happy with everything that we have been receiving in our post box.
