A plus sized girl guide to surviving the heat and the rest of the summer!

It’s hot isn’t it? So hot right now. I’m not complaining, but I am suffering. One thing I can say about a heatwave is it’s not cool! (I just couldn’t resist that crappy little joke). As a plus size girl, I’m feeling for all my curvy friends right now! The muggy weather is the worst. Whilst we’re hoping for thunder storms to come our way and clear the air, I thought it would be a nice idea to share my tips for surviving the heat.

Isn’t it funny how it’s harder to cool down then warm up? Well, annoying. I do love the summer though, seeing past the heat. Summer is for colourful clothes and making memories, just like last year we’ve been doing as much as we can, whilst following social distancing.

Surviving the heat

How I’ve been surviving the heat…

Fans are your friend!

I’m not going to lie. Surviving this heat had been a nightmare when it comes to bedtime. We’ve had 3 fans on in our room the past few nights. however, It has Still been so hard to sleep with this heat. Having a fan aimed at us has really helped us out.

Small tip: Placing a bowl of water under the fan also helps cool the room. As the water evaporates the fan cools this into the air.

Staying in? Keep your mind off the sun with staying creative at home! Read the post, here.

Embrace your body! And get that bikini on.

The idea of going somewhere where everyone could see my fatty legs used to kill me off. I wouldn’t want to go. It’s only recently that I have grown my confidence by having an attitude of if you don’t like it don’t look attitude. Plus who is really looking at you? Everyone else is too busy in there own bubbles.

So grab that swim wear and get down to the beach. Dive in the sea and cool off!

Ice lollies are the best supply.

When it’s a sunny hot day what’s better then a freezing cold treat? An ice cream might be tempting but I promise you your feel even more refreshed with a fruity ice lolly!

Drink even more water.

I’m not being funny with this one. But if your like me right now your going to be constantly sweating. You need to keep hydrated even more so right now. Topping up on water during the day and night will help prevent headaches and feeling crappy.
keeping hydrated is so much better for you and will help keep you cool. As well. It also helps reduce the redness in our hot faces.

Surviving the heat at the beach
Beach Day ☀️

Invest in a decent fly trap.

With heat comes the flies! Ugh there so annoying. There everywhere in the heat. They thrive when it’s hot. Having a decent fly trap will really help. We recently brought this one. It’s brilliant. Really has reduced the flies around us.

Don’t forget your sun cream.

Your already hot and sweaty. Let’s not add burn to this too. I’ve been suffering the last week with sunburn. Because even though I use sun cream I still burn. I use Nivea sun for kids, Which is one of my favourite sun lotions as this always seems to work best for my sensitive sun hating skin. I would still advice applying every hour that your in direct sunlight.

And if you do burn…

After sun and moisturiser! Alternate the 2 every few hours. Your skin will thank you for this! I did learn this week, out of all of the aftersuns I have used in the past. Aloe Vera gel is the best for severe sun burn. I’ve been keep this in the fridge since I got burnt and it really helps the soothing.

Surviving the heat dog with ice lolly
Bella enjoyed her ice cream 🍦

Make sure your clothes and comfortable and loose.

When you are not living in your bikini. Loose and flowing clothes are the best thing for us in this heat. It’s bad enough sweating in everything you put on. So if you have something thin and loose, it’s time to get it out.

Also. Sports bras, I love them in this heat, more comfortable and you can get away with wearing it alone.

Find the water…

I know the idea of the beach right now is out of the question for most, and if we do go. We need to be vigilant with social distancing, but it’s not just the beach as an option to cool down. Some parks have lakes where you can paddle, and there are some beaches around the coast (for us in Hampshire. We are quite lucky to have so many local options). Surviving the heat is so much nicer when you can take a dip in some water.

If a beach isn’t an option, a garden paddling pool, even the smallest to out your feet in will help you cool down quicker.

An umbrella in the sun.

Taking an umbrella with you out when you know. There won’t be much shade helps protect your skin from the sun. (Honestly no one wants the sweaty sunburnt feeling).

Stay calm! It’s not for long…

As plus sized we might struggle a bit more. But it isn’t for long! That boob sweat isn’t going to kill you, promise. Try and keep calm and relaxed. A proper heatwave is not something you want to fight against. When surviving the heat, no one has the energy for that in the heat anyway!

Enjoy your summer as much as you can even when keeping safe from coronavirus and socially distancing, make sure you wash your hands frequently when going out, and wear a face covering!

My experience with corrective leg surgery. climbing mountains as a child.

Hey and a very good morning to you all. Today I want to tell you about an experience that has had a massive impact on my life. Sometimes In life, you end up doing things that you know deep down are just not what you wanna do. There are things that we do in life that we feel like we have no choice but to do them. Even when these are all opportunities for self-improvement. Although I wish we did sometimes life really has no handbook on whether we are making the right choices or not. For myself, one of the biggest decisions I have had to make is whether or not to have corrective leg surgery. Life-changing surgery.

I was born with twisted hips. I don’t actually know that we know what it was that caused my hips to be twisted but I know my parents knew was my hips were twisted from birth. It became apparent when I was a toddler I was walking with my feet faced inwards, and to me that was my natrual way of walking. Some people know this as pigeon toe. It was known from a toddler onwards that I may need corrective leg surgery in my life.

When I reached school age I started to have check ups with the hospital, and was referred for multiple rounds of physiotherapy to see If I could train my legs to walk straight without having to resort to the surgery.

This year I have been focusing on building my confidence a lot, check out my recent post about my confidence journey, here.

When I was a child I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. Before the age of 13 as well. Since it was my life and my body my parents left the desision primarily down to me. It was the decision whether or not to have corrective surgery on my hips. Corrective legs surgery would be having both of my legs broken at the hips by surgeons and set straight using pins.

corrective leg surgery

bullying was such a big part of my decision on having corrective leg surgery.

One of the things that persuaded me with my decision was the bullies. I went to an all-girl school, and I was just an easy target. The girls taunted me for not being able to walk straight. I will never forget the day that I was chased home from school by a group of girls in my year, laughing at the way I was walking, trying to catch me.

One of the girls managed to push me into a bush. The road home was a long straight road, and it felt neverending. I remember getting near to the end of the road and seeing this woman in her garden, I managed to grab her attention. She came to my aid as she got in the way of the girls, giving me a few extra seconds to get across the main road, and into the house where I locked the door straight away behind me. (my parents weren’t impressed, the school said it was a grey area of being something they could deal with/or the police. I didn’t want the police involved).

Another part of the decision to have surgery was the fact I was constantly falling over, I would have scabs on my knees from falling into the gravel (not that it’s has changed much, I still fall over nothing.)

I remember when I made the choice to have my legs surgically corrected I was 100% sure at the time. Even though I knew it was going to be a massive thing.

Having this surgery is a massive part of my past. One I often reflect on.

The first surgery took around 8 hours. 8 hours under the knife, where they reset both of my legs at the same time. Where the operation had taken so long I was then given a blood transfusion due to losing so much blood.
It makes me sad now. Because of that, I can’t give blood myself now.

The recovery from the surgery wasnt the most pleasent. I spent months in a wheelchair and bed. And then again on crutches. My legs had forgotten how to work, where I lost all my muscles from not using them, so I had to learn to walk again. I still remember the day I stoof up from the wheelchair for the first time since the operation. In my head I knew how to walk so I didnt even realise it was going to take so much to be able to return to normality. I think I thought I would be able to just stand up out of the wheelchair I’d been stuck in and just walk… as I said, it really didn’t work like that. 2 surgeries, months of being between crutches and a wheelchair I was finally back on my feet. Literally.

I’ve had problems with my health for a long time, Check out my post where I talk about the effects on my mental health, here.

It may have taken a long time. But I did get there. I still have a few problems with my hips now. Recently, I have been disagnosed with the beginning of atheritus in my hips. Which is a result of the surgeries I had when I was younger. I dont get the pain I’d gone through before, but the odd tingle. And of course not to mention the 2 double scars on each of my hips.

corrective leg surgery

Do I regret having the surgery?

This is a question that is so hard to answer. I wish I had of waited, yes. Having the surgery so young was something that has effected me in many ways. I should be taller than I am but then my body was spending more time healing then growing. I know that my dad does regret letting me go through with the surgery now. However, I don’t think it is something I can actually regret, as it had some positive aspects. I will admit that now though, I do agree that it has had more negative impacts on me than positive. If I could change anything, I would have had the corrective leg surgery a bit later in life.

I started thinking about the operation because it had been a major thing that I had got to experience. When I think about what I have achieved in my life so far, I feel that overcoming this was such a massive achievement, because I did it! I got through it.

To me, it proves something major. Ok, I’m gonna be really cliche here. But if I can get through this. As well as half the other shit I’ve been through I can get through anything.

The past is who makes you who you are today, all the struggles and challenges happen for a reason, to build who you are today. This is just one thing like you will have one, and more things that will build you as a person! these experiences in life we should take the time to value and learn from.

Coronavirus aka COVID-19 – Talking the effects of the virus.

I am pretty certain, if you are like me anyway, you are pretty fed up of hearing the word Coronavirus right now. No, I don’t mean the beer, I mean the virus.

It is a pretty discussable subject right now. Everywhere you turn. The past few days I have woken up to floods of notifications, Emails, Twitters, Sky news. The lot of them all mentioning Coronavirus.

As you may have seen in my February wrap up post here. we are so excited and anxious to be getting into our new place. For us, this week is moving week. Friday we get the keys to our new home. Saturday we have Hired a truck. Tensions are definitely high with self-isolation being a hot topic of this week. One of the worries is we need our helpers.

There is NO way were be postponing the move. I do not think we can take much more of our belongings being packed away as it is. Personally, we are bored already!

Today we took a trip into a local shopping village. As you all know a lot of people have been ‘panic buying’ so the last 2 weeks we have done our food shopping options have been more than limited. Since we are moving into our own house with no ‘supplies’, we decided to buy a few frozen bits. Wow, what can I really say about the shops? whatever shop you are in is rammed and so busy. People are buying more than normal, and the shops are really struggling to keep up with such high demand.

it’s not just us,

I had a message from my cousin who is in France today. France went into complete lockdown. He was enjoying his last 40 of freedom on the beach near where he stays before he faces 2 weeks locked in the house. They are allowed to only go for food and medicines however, they then need to carry documents explaining why they are out of the house.

My brother with diabetes has been told that although still being employed he now can’t work for 12 weeks. 12 weeks is such a long time to be off work. But being diabetic he is of higher risk of catching the virus where he works.

Coronavirus

What actually is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is a new illness that the NHS and government have little knowledge at the moment. What they do know is that the coronavirus affects the lungs and airways. The virus is airborne.

What can we do to stay safe?

  • Self Isolating where possible. avoiding social situations and crowded areas. cleaning your hands with soap and water thoroughly. (sing happy birthday in your head).
  • Always wash your hands when you get home from being out. You can use hand sanitiser when there is no soap available. However, the most effective method of killing bacteria.
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who have symptoms of coronavirus.
  • Unless truly unavoidable don’t travel on public transport.
  • Work from home where possible.
  • Disinfect shared objects and surfaces.
  • Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Use the phone to contact your GP or 111 for advice, avoiding the doctor surgeries and hospitals where possible.

Coronavirus symptoms

If you think that you have contracted symptoms connected to Coronavirus (symptoms that are new) then you are required to self isolate. Guidelines from the NHS I have linked below.

The affects of Coronavirus

We all know that this virus has affected the world in so many different ways. People are terrified. Terrified of getting ill, or losing their loved ones to this nasty illness.

The panic of being isolated, and that shops and business closing. So many are panic buying. The shelves in the stores are as empty as anything. People are now running out of their general supplies and finding that everything in the shop has been brought out.

I think that it is amazing that some stores are now introducing hours where elderly, are now being allowed their own time to shop so that they are able to get what they need. Without being overcrowded and have an actual chance of buying essentials. Soap, Anti bac gel, dried foods, tins, and toilet roll. These are the main items that none of us can find on the shelves right now. making this situation even scarier. If you are thinking of panic buying! please of others who may be vulnerable and in need.

Many of our friends and family are aware that the schools may be shut as of Friday. To think how much this is going to affect children where they are sitting important exams in the upcoming weeks. Will they even be able to take their exams?. Plus the poor parents are also going to be stranded in a house with their children getting bored for weeks?

Business and events will be being cancelled in the upcoming months. Some social locations have already been asked to close. Although some may have the ability to be able to work from their homes, not everyone has this option so will be losing wages. The GOV has set a motion for mortgages etc to be put on hold. However, businesses will still be losing money. Small businesses especially.

Stay positive and support each other

No one is really sure how long this will last, whether it is going to be weeks or months. The virus is scary, it has affected so many around the world. This really is the time that we should all be supporting each other.

Some people are not taking this virus seriously, however, the facts are it affects each and every one of us. People have died. we need to take this seriously. Many have been affected, and many vulnerable. Especially those with an underlying health condition.

Support each other with positive thoughts and acts of kindness. Keep your self busy indoors.

Please keep safe and we’ll during these hard times.

What exactly is self-care and why do we need it?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Self-care is something that I try to think about and achieve as much as I humanly can. I am often seeing so many people talking about the importance of self-care that it truly shocks me that some people still do not know what it is or why it is so beneficial to them.

Self-care

What is self-care?

self-care are the actions we do that our for ourselves. When we maintain a good self-care routine, we are achieving it for ourselves. Improving our health, development and well being.

Is there anything that you do that makes you feel good today? Actually forget good. That is such a boring word. If you can sit there and say today my day was, what imaginative word would you use? Mine, my day was unique. My day was unique because only I had this day today for everyone else it was different.

I know how easy it is to become blind to the positives in life, especially when it comes to our mental health. Even when their good things staring at us right in the face, sometimes, for no reason at all. For no fault of our own, we let our anxiety or depression win.  In my previous post, I explained that its ok to be in a down spell which covered a lot more of this, here.

I have recently become addicted to those books, that I suppose fall into the Self-help category at Waterstones! (Not that I actually go to the actual book shop, it is definitely about Amazon Prime buying!)
I love the quotes and inspiration that you can adopt from these books, sometimes I could be reading a few paragraphs of something, and think crap! this is me! Anxiety overtaking comes naturally to me. It is not just about the words, it will be ok, is not always good enough, and our actions influence everything, especially how we feel.

Looking after your own mental health isn’t just about how you feel on what day, and it is definitely not about just talking it through, our actions and mindset put together to have a massive impact on our lives on a day to day basis.
These things I class as self-care for me, everyone is different, so although they may not work for you, I hope some of my ideas help someone!

self-care

Types of self-care

There 8 self-care types and many different things you can do for each particular type.

Physical

Your physical self-care includes your sleeping, your physical health, what your eating and drinking, ways to rest and relax.

emotional

your emotional self-care covers your stresses, your emotional attachments, compassion, kindness etc.

Social

Your social self-care is your communication skills, your connections with overs, positive social media reflection, and your boundaries.

Spiritual

Your spiritual self-care includes the time that you spend alone, meditation & yoga, connections with nature, journaling and sacred spaces.

Personal

Personal self-care is your hobbies, getting to know yourself, your personal identities, and the ability to empower yourself to be yourself.

Space

Spacial self-care is the care you take into looking after your own space. The space you live in. The earth itself, by being sustainable and keeping your personal spaces organise.

Financial

Financial self-care is being able to manage your money correctly so that you’re not getting yourself into financial worries, such as splurging money too much you are surrounded by debt. As well as being able to commit to responsibilities of paying their own bills etc.

Work

Finally, your work self-care is the things that you need in your workplace, the things that help and improve your time management, workspace, learning and to take suitable breaks.

What can I do to achieve it?

There are a variety of different activities you can do to reach your own personal self-care goals. Here are some general ideas…

BUBBLE BATH, BATH BOMBS, CANDLES AND MAYBE A LITTLE WINE!

When it has been a long day, or when your feeling a bit down, or just for no reason at all. It’s more about the giving yourself time to relax, chill, and let any stress, threats or anxiety fade.

BE CREATIVE

It doesn’t matter what your creativity is, always take the time to actually do it! It could be spending hours with your drawing books, or colouring pad, or something a bit more technical. I literally surround my self by different hobbies and crafty things, I love the feeling of accomplishment for whatever you’ve achieved, is enough. Plus somethings are a great distraction, like colouring!

How about checking out how to make 3D paper flowers, here.

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH COLOUR, BEAUTY, AND YOUR FAVOURITE THINGS

I always say that my favourite colour is glitter, Its shiny and so pretty. It makes me feel content! If it is not glitter, it’s pink, it’s colourful. When you surround yourself with the things you love, you will always find something that will be able to make you happy.

MAKE YOUR FAVOURITE HOT DRINK, IN YOUR FAVOURITE MUG

I have an obsession with mugs (and believe me this is no exaggeration) but I definitely have my fav, I love using.

SPEND MORE TIME ON YOURSELF

Spending time on you could be absolutely anything, It could be spending an evening pampering yourself, with Hair treatments and painting your nails, to spending a few hours with your favourite book Giving yourself ‘me time’ is such a vital thing that makes us all feel good. As long as your going something that is making you feel happy, then whatever it is it’s a good thing!

VISIT YOUR FAVOURITE PLACES

We like to have the Marwell Zoo pass, it is given us the excuse to get out and more active. Plus the excuse to take weekends away to visit other zoo locations included in the price. If it is not a zoo were visiting, its Bournemouth beach. We’ve created so many amazing memories on days just out and relaxing. Make a list of your favourite places and make sure you take every possible opportunity to go!

GET YOURSELF ORGANISED

My anxiety always seems to go out of control when I don’t feel organised enough, whether it is arranging something or just something general. Making lists, adjust your routine, using reminders, sticky notes, and updating my calendar always seems to make me feel better. I would always make this a suggestion when things seem to be manic.

What activities do you do for your general self-care? I would love to hear new suggestions.

Chronic pain, How this has affected me on a day to day basis.

Chronic pain is a subject that I see a lot of people mentioning lately. So I wanted to write about myself and the pain that I have been going through on a daily basis. It wasn’t until I started reaching out to others, researching chronic pain and mystery illness that I stopped feeling alone.

At the beginning of 2019, my health took a massive downhill. I had become a whirlwind of emotions, that’s for sure. Now we’re in a new year and I am still in the same position!

So what exactly had been happening in 2019?

After our trip to Disney back at the end of January/ beginning of February this year I returned to work for a mere 2 days. before waking up with sickness and chronic pain leaving me unable to work.
At the time I didn’t really think much of it because it’s me, and I tend to get ill often. After a few days, the pain in my stomach hadn’t shown any improvement. which meant I had to get myself signed off work!

For something that I thought was going to affect me for a few days. This has turned out to be a complete life changer. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. Now it been over a year and I still get unexplained pain and sickness.

chronic pain

Facing Surgery

Back in May, one morning I ended up with severe pain relating to my PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). This led me to go from the doctor’s surgery straight to the hospital. where they, of course, ran tests.
3 weeks later I found myself having surgery to find out if I had endometriosis, which had been my suspected diagnosis for years. Fortunately (and unfortunately in some ways) I was found not to have this condition. however, the surgeon had to clean my fallopian tubes from infection and fluid.
At this point, I had been hoping the surgery would solve all my problems. After a miserable time recovering, countless ambulances and 111 calls It was easy to realise that it wasn’t so simple and the pain hadn’t been resolved. Now it just seems a small part of the issue.

Having had all that done, I still hadn’t improved. Leading to I having had more multiple trips to the hospital over time, scans of all sorts, been prodded with hundreds of needles, yet still no diagnosis. In fact, it continues as I am currently awaiting a pain clinic, still on multiple drugs to keep me going. Whilst maybe facing yet another surgery! That I don’t want to happen this year. (there is too much going on I just want to enjoy this year).
However, I have been under multiple consultants, it has been said they will probably never find the cause of pain.

illness has been affecting my day to day life.

I am not gonna lie, it is a shit position to be in. unknown cause for pain that stops me from being able to move. unable to work. unable to just be me. In the end, my health caused me to leave a job that I really loved, but has encouraged me to focus on getting better, and opened some different opportunities. I am a quite persistent personality after all.

Regardless, I try not to let my health rule my life. As much as it is a rollercoaster journey.

Chronic pain is a common condition.

A survey I had found by the daily mirror reports that “Almost half the adult population is living with chronic pain,” Suggesting that around 28 million adults in the UK are affected by some type of chronic pain (detailed as pain that lasts a period longer than three months). The NHS has given a very detailed post about this here.

Things you should consider:

  • Chronic pain can be an invisible illness. One minute I can be completely fine and happy before a spout of pain strikes. Just because you can’t see what someone is going through, doesn’t change what is there.
  • Pain management is tricky! If you think of ideas that could help someone, don’t be afraid to suggest it. Sometimes pain relief is hard to conker.
  • Be persistent. Persistence has helped me when it comes to attending the doctors to tell them something is wrong. I had to keep going back for them to even start investigating problems.
  • Don’t be afraid to talk to others. Feeling so crap all the time can really affect your mental health. It is ok to cry and talk it out.
  • Keeping up with hobbies and keeping as normal as possible helps me control what I am going through.
  • Remember to take your meds, this is so important. You have been given them for a reason! they are there to help you.

Taking a look at Pretty Peachy subscription box

This post contains gifted items from Pretty Peachy Co.

I am a big fan when it comes to subscription boxes and this month I have been lucky enough to partner with Pretty Peachy Co. You can find their website here.
The thing I love about the variety of subscription boxes that we have available to us, every order is a little bit like Christmas no matter where you are in the year. You may have read my June post review on the Crafty Vine subscription box If you haven’t take a look here.
With subscription boxes, you truly do not know what is inside until you have received the box, and your opening it up for yourself. I seem to get a rush of excitement and anticipation to find out what is inside when the latest box falls through my front door!

The pretty peachy team are a relatively new company who are providing us with some pretty awesome subscription boxes, “The PEACHY BOX containing 5 goodies, including skincare, haircare, makeup, jewellery and so much more!”. So I am very excited to be sharing with you guys my thoughts on the box that I received from them.

Before I start talking about how much I love the box I received from the Pretty Peachy team let me give you 5 reasons why I love subscription boxes.

The content is random, and a surprise every time.

I love receiving my subscription boxes on an unexpected day! another reason to smile!

Subscription boxes can contain items that are more expensive than the box itself! I love a good find!

Some items in the box can also be a try before you buy! as you can get hooked to new products!

They are just FUN. Plain and simple. Ok?

Talking inside the box…

Firstly I would really like to point out how pretty and eye-catching the box is. I really like the packaging, the peach and pastel-coloured box is a pretty awesome design! I love that inside they have included a selection of sparkly gems. The gems added the nicest touch to the box when opening up and seeing them glistening back at me.

This months box has been themed on ‘all about you!’ and The Pretty Peachy team have outdone themselves with this theme.

Pretty Peachy Cute Meow Socks

Firstly looking at the really cute pair of Cotton Grey Meow Socks, I adore these. The socks are themed on cats which are really cute. not the theme for everyone but I really do think these are cute. They are super soft to touch which is just what you want for a cosy pair of socks. I think these would be the perfect socky item for a day of self-care! The socks have been embroidered with the word ‘Meow’ with a cute white heart and paw print pattern on them. How bloody cute is this?

Marble cosmetics bag

Next up in my box, an elegant looking ‘cosmetic storage bag’ a stunning black and marble themed pattern. I love the bag, it is really smooth and with a touch of gold for the zip! Also, I would say that its a really practical size, and something that I personally would definitely benefit from using. I’m pretty sure that anyone who is a fan of makeup would find a use for such an item. It is perfect as a makeup accessory.

Beauty Glazed Mars Bright Eye Shadow Palette

The makeup included ‘Beauty Glazed Mars bright eye shadow palette‘. What an amazing little treat to have found! The Beauty Glazed palettes are awesome and actually, this one is a new favourite! The palette itself has a really sweet smell to it. Honestly, the fragrance had made the whole box smell amazing upon arrival. I love how bright the colours are inside. I tried some of the shiny looking eye shadows included in the Mars palette and they are so nice! My favourite colour is glittery pink (of course).

Pretty Peachy Makeup Brush

The makeup brush that has been included is another item that I am really impressed with. However, I admit I can be so fussy when it comes to makeup brushes. I mean no one wants to feel a cactus running over their skin as they are applying their makeup right? Well, this brush is absolutely the right amount of soft! The bristles feel amazing against your skin. Having tried it now it’s perfect for applying liquid foundation, or even as a contour brush! Love it!

A beautiful bangle

Finally included in the box I found a beautiful bangle bracelet decorated with hearts. I love bangles, they are the perfect finishing piece to any outfit. Pretty and girly.

The Pretty Peachy team have successfully produced a stunning subscription box that can appeal to many. I love how connected the products have been with their theme ‘All about you’. I honestly feel that it is well worth subscribing in the future for £15 a box. The pretty Peachy team will be including a massive range of product in each box. “you will never receive the same item twice no matter how long you subscribe for!”I cant wait to see what else Pretty Peachy will be bringing us.

What do you guys think? Are subscription boxes for you? what do you think about the range from Pretty Peachy?

Anti Favourite Tag – Talking my dislikes and Anti favourites

I am really pleased to have been tagged by Cassie to do this lovely anti favourite tag.
I am quite excited, because I always seem to be talking about my favourites and what I like, that I pretty much never share my dislikes and anti favourite things! so what a fantastic tag to be taking part in.

Anti Favourite

1. What is your least favourite lip product?

I really have a particular dislike for clear gloss, and I literally mean the gloss that is scentless, colourless and does not even have a nice shine to it. I just a sticky mess on your face, what is the point of that?
If I want a coloured gloss I would buy a coloured gloss, not paint over lipstick with clear goo.

2. What is your least favourite makeup finish?

When it comes to applying my makeup, I prefer a natural look. I don’t like anything that’s going to make my face look to over the top. To be honest I swear it is a confidence thing. I prefer to use Matte products like a matte mouse, as otherwise my face just looks an oily overdone mess. To much shine and too glossy is my Anti Favourite! I don’t fancy looking like a barbie really.

3. What is your least favourite beauty product(s)? (Like highlighters, glitter, primer, Oil cleansers, hair masks, etc also be specific if you want)

Liquid eyeliner is a big anti favourite of mine. I mean I love the theory of liquid eyeliner but it really is just not for me, I can literally never get it to look good on my face, I always mess it up application every time I attempt it, I mean it normally results in massive panda eyes, or worse than that, Clown face from a creepy horror film! So I now just refuse to buy it or even try to use it.

4. What is your least favourite beauty trend? (Spider Lashes, Over Plucking Brows, Sharpie Brows, wavy lips, etc)

So there seems to have been this whole massive craze where it is really cool to have massive huge eyebrow’s like they are literally being drawn on double the size of their actual eyebrow.
Um… woah do you really need your eyebrows to cover the whole of your face? no this is not cool. I don’t understand how this is not in everybody’s anti favourite list. However, I am not saying that they should be plucked to fuck, but really the more natural the look the better I think.

5. What is your least favourite colour to wear on your lips?

I’m not sure that I have a least favourite colour impartially. However, I definitely prefer lighter or even brighter colours. I do not like to be too dark with my lip colour, so definitely no blacks, blues or dark purples. In fairness, I wouldn’t say that I have ever been too adventurous when it comes to colour either. I own a lot of nudes and a lot of pinks.

6. What is your least favourite product(s) in your collection? (Like product regrets)

Ok, I probably will sound really contradicting here because it truly is a love-hate relationship for me but when it comes to Primer. The only decent way of applying it is with my hands, and then they are left feeling oily, and icky, so that is why I would call Primer my least favourite product. However, that being said, I can not be without Primer, so really it is winning against me there.

7. What is your least favourite technique/step you skip?

Lip Liner. I have never really seen the point to line my lips when doing my make up. Ironically I own tons of lip liner pencils, but mainly as whenever I have ordered Avon, they have come as a gift.
I guess I don’t really see the point in the outline when you can do this with your lipstick, and your lip colour will cover the liner anyway. I am also pretty sure plenty of perfectionists will tell me I am wrong though.

8. What is your least favourite product you’ve ever tried?

This was a hard one, I had to think before I could answer this one. My collection is so random and broad that I do not even remember half the stuff I own. Pretty certain I have an addiction to shopping, and bargain finds!
There was a Crackle nail varnish that I once Brought and I hated that. It just made my nails look cheap and tacky, and I hated how rough it made my nails feel. It did not come out like advertised at all! so not for me!

9. What is your least favourite/banned brand(s)?

Actually feeling very defeated on this question! Because I don’t think I have a specific brand that I particularly dislike for any major reason. However, there are plenty of brands that I love! which is not the point of this post. I’ll save those for another day.

10. What product is at the top of your Anti-Haul (will not buy) list?

I am a strong believer that all my makeup and beauty products should be cruelty-free, and not have been tested on animals, therefore I will not buy anything that has been tested on animals. I’m quite optimistic and will try most things, just within reason.

11. What is your least favourite TV show/TV show you are not interested in?

Medical shows! not one any particular program, but I really hate some of the medical shows shown on TV, I end up turning these off pretty quick. Like the latest ‘The toe bro’ I really can’t stomach watching peoples cheesy feet. I find it hilarious that they have made these into TV shows as well!

12. What is your least favourite movie/movie you are not interested in?

‘realistically recorded’ horror films. These really grate on me. I literally can not watch the Blair witch project without cringing so badly and needed to turn it off within 5 minutes. I also really can’t understand how this film was so popular, It wasn’t realistic at all. It was cheesy, and not at all scary! I love horror, I just hate that style.

13. What is your least favourite book or book series/book or book series you are not interested in?

Oh crap! I really don’t think I can answer this one! Can I? Um, I like so many different styles of writing, I love most fiction and non-fiction! I do not think I have found a book that I’ve disliked yet!

14. What is your least favourite genre of music?

Heavy Metal or Hardcore Dance music! I really couldn’t listen to anything heavy like that. For instance, I love easy listening, like acoustic stuff, as soon as I hear anything that is metal or hardcore I feel on edge! It feels more like a noisy mess, than music to listen too and it is just not for me. Enough said really.

15. What is your least favourite food?

It has to be tagliatelli, I’ve never been a fan of it. My brothers favourite meal and when I lived at home with my parents I would literally dread tagliatelli night.

16. What is your least favourite social media platform?

I swear I have a love-hate relationship with social media, as it is.
Having recently wrote a post about asking, are we becoming too addicted to social media?
I think my least favourite has to be Facebook, I seem to just have Facebook these days because I do. I don’t have a massive urge to post on Facebook ever, but I like the groups and networking it can bring, so I use it, I just don’t love it. For me, it is all about Twitter and Instagram, I actually enjoy using those apps.
